On Monday Nov 29, while I was in town with my sister, my wonderful 95-year-old best friend, my Mum, did not wake up. She has been declining for a couple of years and I am grateful she is not suffering any more. She was much loved. I will have to redefine myself without her.

Have a plan! A lab member felt sick and went for a covid test and informed me. we moved lab meeting that day online and let people know so they could limit contacts until test results were in. we then made a plan together for how to do this. Test negative! But now we have a plan!

@TronsonLab What a great day. I am so honored to be honored by you all. And continue to be inspired by the science coming from young Pavlovians. It seems like only yesterday I was one too. My advice. Use time wisely. Goes by in what feels like an eyeblink. Something I know a bit about!

@marktmaclean Every process in Workday is obtuse and seems to require an army of people to get thingd wrong repeatedly. Stuff that used to happen automatically now takes 3-5 emails and logins! Hate it!

So, I decided to submit a claim on my PD Funds using Workday. I claimed the annual membership dues for the Canadian Mathematical Society.
The process was somewhat obtuse in that several required fields weren't marked as such, but produced errors. ../2

Stopped by the lab for the last time today to clear out my worm and freezer boxes and was surprised with a farewell card signed by the lab along with parting gifts of beer, books, and worm swag! Thanks @wormslearn and co! :)

Congratulations to my star student Troy @Troy_McD_UBC who successfully defended his PhD yesterday in a defense that was rigorous while being fun and stimulating!! One senior faculty member said it was the best defense he had ever seen!! Very proud of Troy!!

@SenguptaLab @ctmurphy1 Same here- no testing mentioned. Limit to number of workers allowed, lots of cleaning rules, sign/sign out, online calendars to schedule rooms/equipment.

@ctmurphy1 Yes. Lots of distancing, masking, sanitizing rules in place, daily symptom checker attestation, extensive logging of entry/exit to facilitate contact tracing. Plans are being discussed for testing but not yet implemented.

Question for anyone teaching Animal Learning- Sniffy no longer works on newest Mac OS upgrade! That messed up last assignment of term. Planning next year now- do I have to abandon Sniffy? Maybe @PavlovSociety member has a solution?thnx!
