@woscasfrench @rhovanielle @bilbosfootcomb Because there's almost no evidence of it in indo-european culture. The only unequivocal example of child sacrifice I'm aware of was by Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter to secure a favourable tide when launching the trojan war.

There is a similar situation in Irish paganism. Crom Cruach “The Crooked One” predates the entirety of the Irish pagan pantheon and the church had to fight way harder and way longer to stop people worshipping him than they did for any pagan “deity”
