It was first the sound. I didn't understand a single lyric, but I loved how the song made me feel, i could feel the emotions, the effort. I fell in love.
16 years later,
I now make the effort to study and read the lyrics, the translation, and to look up the meaning

I know calling people larpers and tourists is in right now but I lowkenuinely don’t get how people ‘oshi’ chika idols they’ve never seen in person. Like the appeal is I get to see them perform in some jank livehouse from 3 feet away and then take a cheki with them afterwards.

@wowhaoo @VenandrVT @_shiopan It's doesn't matter, it can't develop into something if doesn't come from somewhere, which pop music doesn't come from Japan. Without 1, you dont get 2.

I also think that kpop using a lot of international composers and taking influences from popular western music makes it more palatable to westerners whereas japan does not gaf about international consumers at all, like jpop sounds like JPOP and jpop alone

@PeliNeverCaps @VenandrVT @_shiopan That is also true. Jpop definitely takes influence from other types of music, all music do. But Jpop has developed its own unique sound from all these influences rather than developing their sound into the influences themselves imo
