A violent confrontation reportedly triggered by a dispute over money sharing among a group of Nigerian nationals caused panic in Parklands, Cape Town, Several gunshots were heard near the busy Morningfield Spar during peak hours, sending shoppers and residents scrambling for safety. Witnesses say two vehicles a red Range Rover and a silver Audi speed away from the scene shortly after the shooting. According to those at the scene, tensions had been building over how drug money was being divided within the group. The argument quickly escalated, with voices raised and tempers flaring before gunfire broke out. The intended target, believed to be part of the same circle, managed to escape unharmed as the situation spiraled out of control. Authorities believe the incident is linked to ongoing disputes within informal networks where disagreements over drug money distribution have increasingly led to violence. Such conflicts have raised serious concerns about safety in the Milnerton and Parklands areas, especially in public spaces where innocent bystanders are at risk. The shooting caused immediate disruption, forcing nearby businesses to close temporarily while people took cover. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding businesses in an effort to identify those involved and understand the events leading up to the shooting.

Truly mysterious how local politics works. Is this not the very same Nkululeko Dunga who was fired as Ekurhuleni Finance MMC by ANC Mayor Xhakaza in 2024 who now lands the whole Gauteng Finance MEC job? Did I miss the part where his track record suddenly improved, or is “coalition politics” a new qualification on its own? The one area that needs critical focus in Gauteng right now, as literally everyone knows, is the judicious allocation of funds to fix infrastructure. Will this help fix Gauteng? How will his R179 billion budget be allocated?

There's money for name changes, high government salaries & even recently, increases for car allowances because the ministers are "struggling". But nothing for general maintenance of the countries infrastructure. Looting & self-enrichment politicians should be sent to JAIL!!!😡

It is about what people are getting in return
