~$4,000,000,000,000 is tied up in pre-funding accounts globally (what does this mean?) Imagine you are a cross-border payment firm. A customer wants to send money over from US to the Philippines, how would you deliver it instantly? You know traditional rails (eg. bank wires) don't allow that to happen, so you have no choice but to have local currency (PHP in this case) prepared on hand. Customer sends you USD, you release PHP to the recipient. Now multiply that across hundreds of countries and currencies. How much idle capital do you need to trap? PayFi (Payment Financing) solves this by providing on-demand stablecoin credit to fund these transfers instantly.
