I think that is when a bulk of them realized that they needed to latch onto something that was tangible and not a digital asset. The early ones got in right as Sword and Shield was ending. Then I noticed it was getting harder and harder to find products at MSRP. Lots of resellers in FB Marketplace and on TCG Player.

“Only $40” 🤣 that was like the basic price of etb’s for years before the crypto and sneaker bros fucked it all up

@TCGView @deadsh0t242 I would say towards the end of scarlet and violet era is when they came in it wasn’t bad until prismatic dropped

They changed it to $49.99 when Fusion Strike came out in November of 2021. This was around the time when the TCG Covid period was just ending. The crypto bros appear to have started moving in around the Scarlet and Violet era, at least by my estimations. I am sure a few slithered in before that. The NFT market really started to crash around May of 2022 and crypto was still going, but with a number of infamous rug pulls where the bros got left holding worthless coins. That is about the time I started noticing strange fluctuations in the market prices of certain cards and sets like Silver Tempest and Crown Zenith. When Scarlet and Violet base was released, I noticed another price increase to $59.99, and that was in November of 2022. Since then, it has been at that $60 price point, at least from Pokemon Center. You can still find ETBs out at Target and Walmart, for either $50 or $60, depending on location. Finding a current set ETB for $40 is a steal right now. This info is just to add a little context for those who are not aware of how the pricing worked before and how I personally saw it progress. Some of you may have had a different experience.
