@DyerbolicalDB Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. The game was good anyway, but his performance added so much to the character. It's rare that a traditional actor could go to voice acting and just dominates the role.

Am I right that Doom 2016's glory kills were inspired by Brutal Doom's gameplay? I still think it's the better of the modern Doom's (haven't played TDA yet), as I have my own beef with Eternal (but still a very good game!). Happy late 10th! Listen to this ⏬⏬⏬

This weekend, there is the Nürburgring 24 hour race, so if I am not posting, I am probably watching. Thank god for multiple monitors, and split tabs in Brave browser! Closely watching #632 and #3 cars all day long, when I am not napping...

@psypharmacopeia I think being a soldier, policeman, fire fighter or medical worker is a little bit more special than an office worker, who is trouble finding love, or handling work stuff. Moving you body surely is better than moping alone after work, or going straight to the bar for beers.

Yeah, this whole “depressed people just need to exercise” thing just needs to die. Like right now I’m literally a psychiatrist on a Marine Corps base. You don’t think I treat depression? Do you think my Marine patients don’t exercise?

Depression doesn’t care if you’re jacked or lazy as hell. Bourdain was hitting BJJ mats almost daily in his 50s, staying lean, competing, and grinding nonstop on TV/books. Still died by suicide in 2018. Exercise helps symptoms, yeah. But depression is a real brain illness: genes, chemistry & trauma. Not some “soft body” failure. The “just move” shaming is bullshit. Reach out for actual help. #MentalHealthMatters

As much as I like the new Doom series, lately I am playing more Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games. Both have source ports for native Linux play, which is just awesome. Outcast and Jedi Academy has open source engines! Thanks Raven! They replicated that SW atmosphere so well!

The most right-wing movie of the last few decades is the Last Samurai. The good side is explicitly a traditional, religious, patriarchal, warrior aristocracy resisting modernity. You just don't notice how right-wing it is because most of the good guys are not white.

@StairwayToRetro I still have a box like this, but made for the 3,5" floppies. I hated the 5,25" disks they were really fragile. I think I still have a few somewhere though.

Watching one of my fav. streamer. She re-plays Bioshock, chat says "this game reminds me of Prey". Facepalmed so hard. This is really just the "Prey is like Bioshock in space, right?" people. For god sake System Shock exists for 22 years now! Ahhhhhhhhh

Happy 10th Anniversary to DOOM. The FPS scene seemed pretty stagnant until the release of DOOM, which revived my love for FPS and revived the series as well. I still remember being hyped while watching it's live action trailer and playing the introduction was pure goosebumps.
