@LADOTofficial This stretch of road is already narrow, missing turn lanes, and there is 0 room to make bike lanes without a reduction of 1 traffic lane minimum. This will gridlock the area.

Karen Bass is campaigning for her 120% increase in the streetlight assessment, which property owners are voting on until June 2. Bass has no plan to arrest copper wire thieves, only a plan to raise taxes.
Western Lensman@WesternLensman

Karen Bass is asked what she wants to finish in a second term. Her first response is to say there is huge problem with criminals stealing copper wire, that puts out city street lights. Solution? Finish installing tens of thousands of new taxpayer-funded solar street lights.

There is a direct correlation between states with higher tax rates and higher quality of life. If you want to pay 5% less in taxes but live in a place that has a life expectancy 6 years shorter, terrible public schools, failing infrastructure, bottom tier healthcare, high obesity rates and a murder rate 300% higher than be my guest. Personally, I’m happy to pay my taxes in Massachusetts knowing we have the best schools, healthcare and safety in the country.

@BillKristol How is taking out loans closing a deficit? It’s kicking the can down the road. I’m not trolling. Seriously asking.

Mamdani has proposed a balanced budget for next year, with level spending while closing a $12b deficit. Trump's budget proposal increases the deficit by about $300b, with a massive deficit next year of more than $2 trillion. Fiscal responsibility? Mamdani > Trump.

Question: if Spencer Pratt became LA mayor and functioned mostly as a kind of figurehead who was surrounded by a highly competent and forward-thinking team of advisors/deputies, who would be on that team? (Try to be serious, please.)

@HankeyLeone Your viewpoint on Pratt is obvious. I would like to encourage you to not try to make inferences from an image and jump to conclusions that just aren’t there. There is plenty of things you can criticize about him, but this kind of stretch hurts your credibility.

Cleaning here is a dog whistle for ethnic cleansing, and dehumanizing unhoused people. The ugliness of the billboard is intentional, to refer to the 40s and 50s when L.A. was mainly white people.

Yet another @spencerpratt billboard appears on Eagle Rock Boulevard in very progressive Northeast LA.

@NotBUFFY_VS @Yahir96298390 @firagawalkwthme I forgot you know his motives and have anecdotal evidence. I posed possibilities and you responded with erroneous arguments that show close mindedness and entrenchment. To disregard possibilities because they don’t fit your viewpoint is problematic at best.

@wrongyetagain @Yahir96298390 @firagawalkwthme His comments R targeted 2U. And I’ve worked on political campaigns, some heated, & NONE of them had campaign offices outside the district, let alone the city they’re running to represent. Stop making excuses 4 this grifter. He doesn’t want 2pay L.A. rent prices4 office space.

@adumb_du1973 lol how do you do all your mental gymnastics to defend attacking my comment that suggests their may be reasons someone would choose to not have their campaign office in the city they are running in. No support of the candidate. Just suggesting there may be reasons.

Imagine defending a guy who said he’s gonna solve the homeless problem and then saying retarded things like “wait til he’s mayor and he’ll move his office to skid row to solve it”
matt meiers@wrongyetagain

@adumb_du1973 Is he the mayor yet? No, so what authority does he have? We are certainly not tough on crime so right now may those fears be justifiable… absolutely. Your lack of compassion for staffers exhibits who you are, and your unwillingness to even consider harm reduction as a motive

@moviedouche @firagawalkwthme It wasn’t an argument. It was merely a suggestion that there may be a multitude of reasons someone might consider offices outside of the city. To belittle things outside your prerogative suggests rigidity and entrenchment. Translated: close minded behavior.

@KanaPalapala @firagawalkwthme He’s actually already shooting and there is a provision to continue if he becomes mayor. I don’t really have a problem with that. Should hopefully provide insight into process and transparency. Still think he would most likely be ineffective, might be nice to see why if he wins

@armando76usa1 @katieporterca Yeah it’s not really possible to allocate 3.1 billion of the 5.3 billion dollar general fund to one line item in my opinion without cuts to programs or tax increases. That’s my point. Where exactly is the $$$ going to come from? That 200,000 number is current CA res in UCs

@wrongyetagain @katieporterca 2 years at CC free- not low cost $5.3 billion in state General Fund support. This funding is to support "enrollment growth and student success." This funding will have to be enough to cover the cost of the 200K undergraduates you mention. Waste will have to be cut.

@armando76usa1 @katieporterca 1) community college isn’t free (low cost but not free) 2) if accepted to a UC at high school graduation it would be 4 years. 3) 200,000 residents attend UCs each year at an avg of $15,500 per. 3.1 billion is the price tag for what she is proposing.

@wrongyetagain @katieporterca California already has free two-years of college. Making it 4, won't add to the deficit. The tuition & fees students paid are over & above what UC's already get to cover basic costs of the 4 year programs even when the student already completed the first 2 at a community college.
