A Sangamon County judge has granted a temporary restraining order against mask mandates in 146 Illinois school districts — including CPS — blocking schools from requiring masks in classes and excluding students/staff from buildings if close contacts with positive COVID-19 cases.

@NapervilleIn @centraltimes @Naperville203 @NUEA203 It is unlikely that no contract is signed for two years, neither side would drag on the process that long. If that were the case, then it would be solely up to the district to decide educators' pay, benefits and leave. We think teachers should have a say in those terms as well.

@NapervilleIn @centraltimes @Naperville203 @NUEA203 -The community is fully capable of funding the minute increases the union is asking for, even without any tax increases. As we pointed out in the editorial, the district has run budget surpluses of millions of dollars for almost the past decade.

@NapervilleIn @centraltimes @Naperville203 @NUEA203 -we believe it is the district's responsibility to respond to the union because the union has better proposals and has better explained their position to the public. Also, we think that any sacrifice made by the Board would be much smaller than that of the educators.
