Spec driven development doesn't gel with the way I work. The spec is often a result of many POCs. Lately I've been generating the spec from the POC and vice versa. Bidirectional iteration that lets other stake holders comment on the spec as the implementation evoles.

With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.

@davidfowl This is cool. I am going to dig in and see if it solves my dapr rabbitmq problem. Cheers.

.NET Aspire is extensible, here's an example of building support for waiting on dependencies to be "ready" in during local dev: github.com/davidfowl/Wait… We're hoping to see the ecosystem building really cool things we didn't envision 😍. #dotnet #aspire

It is probably just me but I seriously don't think I have wasted so much time as I have with VS code dev containers.

@colinbowern @RDKLInc Stop living in the past! We have better disk technology: “Zip Disks!” 100mb capacity would be ideal to just insert your container image into the cluster this way! Pull it out, plug into another cluster, stateless, immutable!

@glav @damovisa I did a talk a few years ago on PWAs part of which was recollecting my early days of web dev. Apparently someone in the audience was overheard to say "I wasn't even born then"

I think I'm getting old. I remember ASP and php when developing for the web looked like html. Then aspnet webforms came along and it looked like something totally different. Then it swung back with Razor and MVC. I just looked at some nextjs code and I guess we're back to not-html. I'm sure other platforms did different things.

@damovisa Same. Personally I feel SPAs have made web apps overly complex. I’m experimenting with #htmx at the moment and a thousand lightbulbs 💡 are going off Simplify the web ✊

@davidfowl Been using Tye on my team's current project (based around dapr). In a dev container, we have it spinning the microservices (python and C#), a web app, SQL Server edge (container) and a db-migrator. It has seriously made the whole local dev process way easier

One of the most underrated features of tye is the ability to setup a local cluster for testing (without containers!). I needed to test something behind a load balancer, and I could choose to build something complex or just do this:
