The correct solution to DST versus standard is to change how we run clocks: You need to adjust the clocks continuously from December 21st to June 21st. Shift the clock by 31 seconds every day and then Shift it back 31 seconds every day. You get rid of the entire problem. (Then fix time zones in the U.S. because Michigan doesn’t need to be in the same time zone as Maine anymore). The literal clock is UTC ever everyone. Then what we observe is dynamically calculated that we use by agreement. grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5…

NH Dems are anti-science, anti-progress, anti-capitalism ... and worst of all, innumerate. They don't read. They can't do math. This graph took my 10 minutes to research and make. Look at the red arrow to see how much water is "lost" by datacenters...to evaporation.

NH Senate Democrats@NHSenateDems

Senator Avard compared a data center to a Target store. They are not the same. A single data center can consume up to 5 million gallons of water per day, the same as 15,000 homes. They strain our power grid and drive up energy costs for everyone. #NHPolitics

Software devs don’t intentionally create bugs. So they’re not going to actually catch the bugs they missed while writing it. You have to have an adversarial tester who didn’t write the code doing the testing. You can do most of that now with AI if you really carefully create sub agents that are blind to intent and just understand the testing portion.

What are your thoughts on dedicated testing teams vs testers within the team vs software engineers owning the testing?

The next Babel Curse is coming. AI will allow us to bypass capricious "genius" directors and meddlesome studios. If AI allows for every immersive experience to be fully personalized, a shared movie experience will never happen again. Hollywood's hara kiri.

Na, 3 violent strikes and no conjugal visits while you’re in. No bail on second strike. Convert old football stadiums to prisons. Within 3 generations you have culled the population of virtually all violence because it’s genetic: Low IQ plus the violence genes. And we know this works because Europe executed 1% of its population for 400 years for this purpose and Europeans are the least violent on the planet. (East Asia did similar). As a side benefit you’ll increase average IQs by 15 points too especially in certain demographics.

Stop right there! You've reached the El Salvador homicide rate check-up post. Compared to last year, El Salvador's homicide rate is... DOWN BY A THIRD! From an already record-low level! El Salvador is on track for LESS THAN HALF of the Canadian homicide rate!

Sweden. Among young women aged 18 to 29, almost 66% support the Socialist, Communist and Green parties combined. I don't understand how this is possible.

@GhostSatoshis @jeremykauffman Tort doesn’t work with violent stupid people. They have nothing to pay in damages and the punishment can’t be strong enough. Works basically everywhere else, especially if you can get the cost down so it isn’t about how much money you can spend.

@nonlinear_james @jeremykauffman I'm a tort maxxer. If everything could just be treated as torts then the vast majority of these issues would be traded off for. I think I nabbed the idea from David Friedman's Machinery of Freedom.

It should be noted that Canada clutches its pearls, claiming the USA should send “support” to assist Canada is fighting wildfires instead of blaming them for mismanagement.  However, reciprocity is a big problem. Most of the firefighting takes place as an outcome of private-public contracts for costs. The Canadian government blocks U.S. companies from fighting fires in Canada because the Canadian government wants to only pay Canadian companies and workers.  U.S. firefighting is not allowed to assist in Canada and get reimbursed. Conversely, the Canadians quickly want to come to the U.S. to fight fires because the USA reimburses firefighting companies at a higher rate than Canada.  The USA has no federal restrictions on Canadian firefighting assistance. Canadian firefighting professionals would rather fight forest fires in the USA because they make more money.  There is no incentive for U.S. firefighting professionals to volunteer their time and effort without getting reimbursed; which is the position of Canada. In essence, come to Canada and fight our fires for free because we will only pay Canadians.  However, also, let our Canadian firefighters come to the USA and make money.  It is a very Canadian argument. @Meligy Flutter like. As should have happened a decade ago because aside from failing to support all platforms XAML has always been the biggest gate on Xamerian and MAUI adoption. It fucking sucks and the people that don’t want change have fundamentally harmed the product.

Over the last decade India built millions of toilets, over 100 million They increased access to toilets from under 25% to over 70% of the nation. In 2019 they declared open defecation to be eradicated. India was of course lying about this. It is estimated that even with toilet access hundreds of millions of Indians still choose to poop in fields and on the street. Meanwhile you can find reports on the Internet that even when they come to America, some Indians still prefer to poop in the street.

This is one of the smartest things I've read in a while. It is written the opposite of the way that I write. I would say: Most women in law are not able to understand the basics of justice. Women, even women who are lawyers and judges, usually struggle with the difference between justice and nurture. Men in law look at two opposing parties and judge the cases they present according to the rules of procedure. Women in law look at two opposing parties and feel pity for the one they think is at a disadvantage (needs nurture). This makes them feel invested in a good outcome for the weaker party, or the "baby." (DESERVER) Women also usually fail to see justice as a hostile contest between opposing points of view. "We are not two separate parties; we are one big family, and we should all want everyone to be happy and safe! :)" If a woman in law cannot transcend these family instincts, she violates the basic principle of "nemo iudex," meaning that no one should judge a case if they desire a specific outcome in that case. Instead of seeking justice, they will seek personal satisfaction (my baby won!). She also violates "audi altereram partem," meaning that no one should be judged by someone who refuses to listen to their story (we've heard enough from PRIVILEGED WHITE MEN!). You may recognize the absence of these principles in what we have been calling "cancel culture." "Believe all women!" Remember that one? That means "I want the woman to win" (DESERVER) and "don't listen to the man," all packed up into three neat little words! Now, replace "woman" with "the party I feel bad for," and "man" with "the party I don't care about." "I want the [DESERVER] to win! Don't listen to the [PRIVILEGE]!" It should now be much more clear why the law has become increasingly lenient on criminals in recent years. This is what I call "kindergarten mommy" consciousness, and it is severely corrosive to criminal justice. The courtroom is not a kindergarten or a family, it is a substitute for violent conflict between parties that absolutely do not consider each other family. In other words, most women in law end up treating criminal justice proceedings like a fight between their own children.
A.J.R. Klopp@ThirteenFathers

My experience with feminized jurisprudence (admittedly I only have two degrees in law) was that most women are unable to separate their evolutionary instinct for moving the goalposts in the name of nebulous fairness, while simultaneously dismissing the adversarial structure of litigation. Both premises of natural Justice are thus voided (nemo iudex and Audi altereram partem)
