Good morning Twitter I have the world's tiniest sunflowers, standing less than a foot high, I can't work out if they're meant to be that small or if I've done something wrong? It's Friday and I admit I'm a bit glad as I'm knackered! Have a marvelous day

Confirmed now! This huge hailstone has set a new hail record in #Estonia. We have estimated its diameter to be at least 8 cm (the picture shows a woman's hand holding this massive hailstone). It was found yesterday (7.08.2023) from Torgu-Mõisaküla, Saare County.

@DanicaPriest @AJ99500818 @headcovers @simonharries3 Exactly❗️It’s farcical. But then they’re the ones with a voice in the room and able to influence any vote. The system is stacked against campaigns like yours and ours and so many I read in here. The loser is Nature, wildlife and future generations 😐

@GeorgeMonbiot Increasing division in society,on purpose, does not bode well. Polarisation of opinion stops cohesion in society. We need people to listen, discuss to enable change.

1. One of the indelible ways in which the world has changed since both the first phase of the pandemic and the rule of outright liars - Trump, Johnson, Bolsonaro etc - is the rise of conspiracy theories. This has had a major impact on environmental debate and action. Thread/

Global supply chains are fragile & the world is becoming increasingly unstable - geopolitically & climatically. Everyone needs to start taking an interest in food system resilience: as the century progresses, things are likely to get worse.

Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative has decreased the supply of grain onto markets and destabilised food prices. Russia is now using some of its best weaponry to target infrastructure housing and transporting grain. #FoodIsNotAWeapon

57 world class athletes come to the UK and regret it. Nearby & 3 days before the event E .coli levels were measured at 4 times above level for safe bathing. In 2021 the local WC dumped 821,088 tonnes of sewage into the sea. Welcome to modern Britian. amp.theguardian.com/environment/20…

REMINDER: New oil WON'T bring down bills OR boost energy security. It will just WRECK the climate. That's why we were on @RishiSunak's roof today asking: Who's side are you on - Big Oil PROFITS or our FUTURE on a habitable planet? #StopRosebank #NoNewOil #Greenpeace

‼️ Economists confirm that Brexit has ended the era of cheap food. ‼️Brexit Britain 🇬🇧 are paying more for food, which is increasingly imported and of lower standards which harms health, environment and animals. Just what we predicted! The promise ⬇️ The Betrayal ⬇️

Fascinating images of the Fen. Second image is the LIDAR elevation data showing soil height revealing paleochannels as the peat has shrunk downwards. You’d never know the channels were there looking at the fields in the satellite image

It’s great to see protesters innovate as some methods are equally as effective in capturing media attention while not alienating people in the process. theguardian.com/politics/2023/…
