This is goodbye 👋 I have been giving this a lot of thought over the past couple of months and I’ve decided, due to changing circumstances that I will no longer be updating this account or any other accounts. It’s been a lot of fun over the past 8 years I’ve been on this platform and I’ve learned a significant amount about weather and forecasting, thank you for following along and joining in and I hope my updates over the years have proven useful. In my mind, the landscape for weather information is shifting and accounts like mine are becoming less useful or relied upon in the way they once were. The rise of misinformation and personal attacks directed by idiots, towards those who post “red maps” and discuss weather mean that this hobby is no longer fun, it’s become rather tedious and I’ve always said when it stops being fun then it’s time to stop. I will still be tracking and keeping an eye on the weather more privately, of course, my interest in that side of things is still very much alive and likely always will be! ⛈️ God speed ✈️ stay safe. Spend as much time in nature as you possibly can. Enjoy the weather, whatever it is. Thank you.

@MartinSLewis I'll have to withdraw money from savings which are already worth a lot less due to the effect of the war on the financial market. Why should people who've worked all their life and saved for retirement and never had benefits be penalised due to this war?

@MartinSLewis I'm retired, living off a small pension and my savings that I built into an ISA over the past 15 years. I'm not on any benefits, I'm not considered "vulnerable", but I just can't afford to pay a heating oil bill which is more than twice what it would be usually.

The PM listed 5 things they'll do to "protect the cost of living". Most just reiteratedexisting situation, the new thing, as expected was £53m to help vulnerable with home heating oil costs. We'll starting digging into that ASAP. Will update here when I know more.

@Met4CastUK The question is; given that SW Wiltshire had more rain today than is warned about tomorrow, why didn't we have a weather warning today?!? It's bucketed down all day & the groundwater & boreholes are at property flooding levels again. But all that was forecast was "light rain"

@Steph_BBandT That's a mere drop in the ocean compared to how much it's going to cost us to move to Scotland. 10 times what you've been quoted!

Foxes are being brutalised in the name of "sport" despite the majority of us opposing it. RT if you think we should protect foxes and ban hunting once and for all!

@FlowerdewBob Hi Bob. I've grown Mini Munch cucumbers for years. This year has, unsurprisingly, been a bumper crop, but they're all much longer than usual . They're normally 3-4" long & very stocky, pumped up. This yrs are 6 " and thinner. Still yummy, but is that normal?

@peacockreports We always call our consistent lack of rain (when everyone around us is getting it) the "Salisbury gap". Whenever there is a forecast of heavy rain or storms, we watch it coming, only for it to "hop" over us and then carry on once it's past.

Up to 20th, the July-to-date rainfall anomalies make for a very mixed picture across the UK. Northern Scotland plus southwest & central-south UK are mostly still well below average, while the southeast, northern England, & southern plus eastern Scotland are near to well above.

I did not write this, just passing it on.. Don’t Mess with Anyone Over 60. Seriously. They’re not just older, they’re a different species. Built from cold toast, hot tempers, and instincts sharper than any app. These are the people who: Could read their mom’s mood by the slam of a cabinet door. Wielded a flying slipper like a heat-seeking missile. Knew by age 7: “Lunch is in the fridge. Heat it up. Don’t burn the house down.” At 9, they could cook soup — no recipe, no measurements, just vibes. By 10, they were fixing taps, dodging stray dogs, and wearing buckets as armor. They grew up outside. No phones. No screens. Just monkey bars → creeks → scraped knees → home by sunset. Their Wi-Fi? Instinct. Their antivirus? A garden hose and a gut of steel. Bread with sugar. Cuts patched with spit and a mystery leaf. Allergies? Maybe. But unless something fell off — “You’re fine.” They survived it all: Transistor radios and vinyl stacks Black-and-white TV with rabbit ears Cassettes, Discmans, and pencils jammed into tape reels. Now they carry every song ever made in their pocket but still miss the sweet grind of a cassette rewinding. When they got a driver’s license? They crossed countries with just a paper map, egg sandwiches, and pure faith. No AC. No GPS. No reservations. Just: Go. They remember life before the internet. Before "low battery" was a thing. Before birthdays needed reminders. If they forgot yours? They just didn’t show up. No big deal. These legends: Fixed everything with duct tape and a butter knife Had one TV channel and loved it Think “scrolling” still means flipping through a phone book Believe: “If you didn’t answer, you must be alive. Call back later.” They’re not soft. They’re forged from rusted metal swings and emotional asbestos. Tough skin. Sharper minds. Ninja reflexes from dodging life the hard way. They’ve seen more. Felt deeper. And they’ve got a Werther’s Original in their pocket that predates your TikTok account.

@Catherinewith11 I thought I was the only one who spent weeks relocating them as the plant they were on was exhausted. Totally run out in the garden now.... and somehow I feel so guilty. (Heads off to find some ragwort in the village).

The responsibility of relocating these beauties after eating us out at the farm. ❤️ I used to think this was the plant made by the devil himself as my culture dictated. Glad I was curious. 🧐

@MartinSLewis Quick question, @MartinSLewis . The current annual limit for both types of ISA (Cash/Funds) is £20,000. If the limit on Cash ISA'S is put at £4,000, would you still be able to put the balance of £16,000 into a Funds ISA?

Today's Poll: Should the cash ISA allowance be cut? The Chancellor is rumoured to be cutting the tax free savings allowance from the current £20,000 PER TAX YEAR. What's CLOSEST to what you'd say is a fair limit balancing benefit to savers v cost to state?
