How the Dolly Community Got Scammed by an Instagram Grifter: I decided to become a whale in $Dolly. Bought at 70K, watched it run to 1.2M. I bid from my doxxed wallet to project confidence, because I believed in it. Still do believe in that vision. Even after a 50% retrace from the $pump launch the memes were strong and the whales weren’t sweating. But behind the scenes, things were unraveling. A few of whales had been in talks with a guy who went viral on IG for making Barbie AI content. He doesn’t own the IP…Mattel does. Claiming ownership over the “Barbie AI” concept is like the guy who made the first pot saying no one else can use clay. He just had a cool idea, and others built on it. We thought a collab could be cool. He seemed to agree… reaching out to whales and the Dolly account, saying he’d never launch a meme but wanted to support what we were building. Said he loved it. Then came the ask: $5K cash + supply… 2% supply unvested … only Instagram stories… only one week of support. Lots of crazy offers. It was a wild ask with low upside, but the team moved toward a deal and made an agreement on a price for a mainstay reel and linktree once the coin reached a moonshot listing. Then he rugged the offer—launched his own PVP memecoin on Bonkfun. All while standing on a moral soapbox about how he’d never “pump and dump.” He didn’t just lie…he drained momentum from a meta he helped spark and hurt the very community that welcomed him. It was thoughtless, selfish, and extractive. I guarantee once his token dies, he’ll quietly scrub it from his IG/TikTok bio just like he asked the team to do in the deal he tried to strike. *sigh* Just another Web2 grifter pretending to build in Web3, only to cash grab and bail. He could’ve built something iconic with the community. Instead, he chose clout and extraction over collaboration.
