This #TimelapseTuesday, watch 14 years of water level changes in 17 seconds at Lake Powell on the Utah–Arizona border, captured by @NOAA’s JPSS satellites from 2012–2026.
This year’s spring and summer runoff into the lake is projected to be the lowest ever recorded, according to NOAA’s Colorado Basin River Forecast Center.

Amid the plethora of RPI-based midweek cancellations around college baseball, #OkState coach Josh Holliday called for the system to be patched.
“That pisses me off, and if we’re gonna let people (and teams) manipulate a system, then the system sucks, and it needs to be fixed.”

Lake Powell, the 2nd-largest reservoir in the US, is over 80 feet lower than it was 8 years ago and 170 feet lower than the last time it was nearly full in 1999.
Spring snowmelt inflows are projected at just 13% of normal, the lowest on record. The lake could fall to 3,490 feet as soon as August, roughly 30 feet below the previous all-time low.
3,490 feet is "minimum power pool," the level below which Glen Canyon Dam can no longer generate hydropower for 5 million people across 7 states.
In a desperate move by the Bureau of Reclamation, up to 1 million acre-feet, nearly a third of Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming, will be released downstream to stabilize Powell.
This water crisis facing the Southwestern US will affect tens of millions of people, and it's not going anywhere.

WOW! The current thunderstorm complex over the Southern Plains is about half the size of Texas! It's covering Dallas, Tyler, Longview, Waco, San Angelo, Austin, Abilene and Waco simultaneously! It's more than 530 miles north to south, and 500 miles west to east.
This is what meteorologists call a "mesoscale convective system," or MCS. It's what happens when individual thunderstorms (which produced tennis ball-sized hail earlier) merge. Their outflows, or exhaust, pool into one combined gust of cold air. That cool breeze sags south, lifting warmth/moisture and generating an arcing squall line that can span hundreds of miles.

Collin County, TX is in the midst of a stiff housing correction in 2026.
Inventory has spiked 62% above the long-term average, to over 4,300 listings.
This high supply is causing values to drop, down -6.1% over the last year already.
Sellers in cities like Frisco, Prosper, and Plano are even beginning to take losses on some houses they purchased near the peak in 2022/23.
Ultimately, this is great news for North Texas buyers.
This could finally be the time to swoop in and make below-list-price offers.
