@dreamingfinch Ive talked about this before too, they nuked Mikes character (despite him being better for being queer) bc they truly couldnt handle him straying too far from their precious self insert image by being gay. Like they can't even let Mike be a character outside of themselves.

but my main point is you can't have it both ways if the duffers queerbaited then they didn't intend for him to be read as straight, their intent would be purposeful ambiguity

I think sometimes we forget how easy it is to make the audience believe a character is straight. heteronormativity is on your side. the fact a significant portion of the audience thought mike could be queer is telling, the reasons why even more so. +
