I've read some wild things about early computing, but I just learned that the EDSAC computer (1949) apparently had: "A loudspeaker connected to the accumulator's sign bit; experienced users knew healthy and unhealthy sounds of programs, particularly programs "hung" in a loop."

RUMINT: The Air Surveillance Radar Phase 3 will involve the acquisition of "up to" 10 fixed radars and 4 mobile radars. This is more than enough to fill the 4 publicly known sites for this project, possibly including Balabac Island. 1/x

The Air Surveillance Radar (Phase 3) below is interesting considering the massive bump in the budget. - Phase 1's IAI 3x Elta ELM-2288 was ~Php2.7B - Phase 2's 3x J/FPS-3ME + 1x J/TPS-P14ME was ~Php5.5B Phase 3 now include basing support, but is still a massive bump in total ABC

1) A demon entered into him. 2) He confessed to the Sanhedrin, but NOT Our Lord. 3) He committed suicide. 4) His bowels burst asunder. 5) Our Lord said it would be better for him had he never been born. 6) Our Lord said “he went to his own place.” This is a rather clear certainty of Judas’ condemnation to Hell.
Bishop Robert Barron@BishopBarron

Friends, if Judas’s betrayal of the Lord wasn’t enough to earn him a place in Hell, then his suicide, most theologians agree, certainly sealed the deal. I want to draw your attention today to a counter-view—admittedly in the minority—which is the subject of my reflection published by Fox News. fxn.ws/3O9F0sG

China might call the Philippine Maritime Transparency Initiative “US propaganda,” but Manila has been exposing China's illegal behavior for decades. This 1995 clip exposes dangerous Chinese maneuvers in the Spratly Islands, patterns that continue today.

Zuckerberg's yacht once sailed 9,600 nautical miles, burned 676,800 liters of diesel, and waited two months in the South Pacific for him to show up. He never came. It turned around and went home. The vessel burns 1,165 gallons of diesel per hour at cruising speed. The carbon output of 630 cars running simultaneously. In nine months, it produced 5,300 tons of CO2, what 400 American households emit in an entire year. Meta's sustainability report pledges net zero across their value chain by 2030. Zuckerberg's personal fleet (there's a $30 million support vessel that follows the yacht everywhere carrying submarines, helicopters, and water toys) produced more emissions on that single empty round trip than most people will generate in a lifetime. The fuel tank holds 423,700 liters. A full fill costs about $230,000. Based on his 2024 wealth increase, Zuckerberg earns that in under 90 seconds. Net zero is a line item in someone else's budget. It always was.

Mark Zuckerberg, an outspoken critic of "man-made climate change", shows off his new $300 million, 287-foot mega yacht, powered by four gigantic diesel engines. Yet another stark reminder that Net Zero is only for the peasants

Even the darkest clouds can have a silver lining. Because it turns out the most effective way to reduce traffic wasn’t a policy or a new flyover, but an oil crisis. Prices went up, optional trips went down, and the road breathed. And it also raises a question nobody wants to answer: were we ever honest about who was clogging the roads in the first place? When fuel was cheap, the threshold for “I’ll just drive” dropped to almost nothing. Optional trips. Convenience runs. Vehicles that had no business being on the road except that the cost of being there was affordable. When the price corrected, that optional travel quietly disappeared. Not all of it. But enough to move the number 8 points. Now I know how this sounds. I’m not celebrating the price hikes. People are hurting. The tricycle driver. The jeepney operator. The TNVS guy moving forty passengers a day. The family in Cavite driving two hours each way to keep a job they can’t afford to lose. I’m not dismissing any of that. That’s the dark cloud. The silver lining is there’s also math nobody wants to do. If fuel costs more but you arrive in less time, the total cost of that trip hasn’t shifted as dramatically as your receipt suggests. Because not only does traffic burn more fuel unnecessarily, there’s also your time, if you value it at all. The pump price is real, and yes, we need to cut the excise tax and VAT during this crisis because it affects the price of everything. It just isn’t the whole equation. It’s not unlike a toll road argument. We choose that over the service road for the same reason. Because let’s face it, eight percent doesn’t sound like much. Until you’ve sat on EDSA.

@NappysTheBomb @SandyofCthulhu You mean that crispy belly in kare kare sauce? That's a relatively novel combination. Crispy pork seems to find it's way into more and more traditional Filipino dishes.

In Germany for a special treat we roasted a whole suckling pig and it was incredible. Had bollito misto in Italy. A show-stopper. Never been to India but tandoor meats are pretty great. Other nations are also capable of understanding meat. I am not dismissing or minimizing the American meat tradition but sometimes stepping outside the zone to check out an Argentine parillada, say, can be liberating too.

Rape victims don't lose their virginity in rape. This is standard church teaching going back centuries. That's why we have virgin saints who were raped and sold to brothels as part of their persecution. Using rape victims to justify degeneracy or calling them impure is disgusting

- there is only ONE nurse in Europe allowed to perform ERCP (usually carried out only by specially trained surgeons), in Rotherham in England - this nurse regularly introduced himself as ‘a consultant interventional radiologist’ to patients, obfuscating the fact he’s a consultant NURSE - even his supervising surgeons were not themselves trained in ERCP as it’s so specialised! - in one case he continued with surgery despite the supervising doctor instructing him to stop - he made mistakes dosing sedatives and I n the procedure itself, leading to the death or harm of at least 68 patients Doctors wanting to perform ERCP must pass rigorous speciality exams and enter special training programmes under close supervision. Why do we have lesser standards for nurses? Patients must now routinely ask their ‘doctors’ if they are actually doctors if they want proper care in the uk!
Wigglytuff@nursewigglytuff

There is continuing discussion around the harm caused to patients by the nurse consultant-led ERCP service at @RotherhamNHS_FT between 2016-21. I believe its lessons must transform our understanding of patient safety and 'advanced practice'. A thread follows👇🧵(1/15)
