Can we get a Protestant on Tucker who actually represents us accurately without the strawmen? Jay Dyer (Orthodox) reduces the Calvinistic/Reformed view of salvation to "mere mental assent" — with the only change being God's disposition toward a person. That's not what any Protestant teaches, other than the hyper free-grace OSAS antinomian fringe. We teach justification by faith alone in Christ: a sinner goes from hating God to repenting and trusting Him. This is a real spiritual regeneration by God's grace alone, not just rubber-stamping an individual as "saved" and sending him on his way. Yes, we are legally declared righteous at the moment of faith: Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. But Scripture also teaches sanctification — not as a means to achieve salvation, but as a byproduct of becoming a new creation in Christ: 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Those whom God justifies in Christ, He will also glorify: Romans 8:30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

@C2Antiquity @Canonandcreed @Alex_Ortodoxie If you're spotlighting me making a reply to a tweet - to leach off my name? And, in an apropos spasm of further deceptiveness, describing that as "panic"? You're either desperate for views. Or insincere. Or both. Either way, your downward spiral into self-parody is noted.

Jay Dyer on Tucker Carlson: How Medieval Philosophy Nominalism created modern transgender ideology: “Nominalism is the idea that there are only names to things, not essences. So there’s no human nature. No dog nature. The ancient world believed things have real essences. Words described metaphysical reality. Occam started denying that. It influenced Luther. Then Hume, Kant, the Enlightenment… If things don’t have essences, then they don’t have genders objectively — everything is just a name. So I can just name myself he, him, Zer, Z. That’s the logical train from medieval philosophy to postmodern gender ideology. It flies in the face of lived experience. You basically have to be indoctrinated to believe it.”

Why the straw man, Alex? Anyone who has followed my recent discussions on EOism, or who has followed my teachings on church history for decades, knows you are being dishonest. Why don't you guys care about balance, accuracy, and restraint? It's a pretty bad look, unless all you are concerned about is clicks, and those from the peanut gallery. Unlike you, I examine said councils in the context of history, not in the context of submitting to an authority granted to them centuries after they took place. I do not have to practice anachronism so as to read back into the patristic period beliefs and practices that my current religious authority demands I find there. And I have taught people to engage in that kind of historical study for decades as well. You are simply being dishonest, Alex. Why? Anyone knows I do NOT say "I read the Bible MY way!" I have entire books that demonstrate the dishonesty of such a statement. I lay out sound hermeneutical practice and teach rigorous exegetical discipline. I teach Greek and Hebrew not so that I can read the Bible "MY" way but so that I can honor it as written, and honor the Author first and foremost. Yes, Nicea 2 is not binding on me. No question. I am not subject to Byzantine State Religion, and Nicea 2 was the expression of that governmental authority. It began by anathematizing one of the two positions that even prompted the calling of the council to begin with. There was no serious debate. It was a rubber stamp party for Empress Irene. Nothing more. I notice that your dishonest rhetoric likewise ignored Basil's own words. That is pretty common amongst the Orthobros, too. I hope you will consider why you have to behave as you do, sir. It might get you applauded by your followers but for those concerned about truthfulness, well, you have a ways to go.
