As always, diabetes has made me susceptible to a more uncommon and dangerous infection, but my GP has been brilliant in making sure I get rapid treatment. Fingers crossed I’m now on the up and can continue to avoid a dreaded hospital stay 🤞

So it would appear I have a strep B infection in my kidney…spent a week on the wrong antibiotics and I am feeling so so rough right now. Thankfully now on the correct antibiotic and hoping to recover quickly. Seriously who gets a strep B infection?! Me, obviously…

This week I’m going to do one of the hardest things I’ve done - will be packing for a 4 day/ 3 night trip with just a carry on bag 😂😂 It’s going to take me a whole day to do this. Seriously. Any tips gratefully received

@kizzythechemist 22 is baaaaaaad lol. Too high, very stubborn. When you’re sick with diabetes. It’s dangerous as your blood sugar shoots up and it can poison your blood. Sickness on hard mode!

Nailing the diabetes control whilst treating this kidney infection 💅 Honestly though today was the first time in 4 days I ate more than one meal. Still can’t bend over but we can’t have everything.

I very much forgot that kidney infections are brutal. I have been rotting in my sofa all week but have finally started improving today!

Currently existing under blankets with a surprise kidney infection. Big shout out to my hot water bottle for its support during this time, and to Stanley cups for the giant volume of liquid they can hold so I can minimise leaving my sofa for drinks.

Very happy to report I have held my first ever Ackerman Group Meeting, complete with an authentic Colin the Caterpillar. It is still INSANE to me that I am trusted to help multiple students get degrees.

@breetree35 Oh yeah, totally can. I do it all the time. Sometimes if I’m lazy I don’t even take it out of the pump and just fill that baby up again. You can get like 5 or 6 refills before it starts grumbling.

DIABETES FRIENDS IN MY PHONE Don’t tell them but can I use my t*ndem cartridges more than once? It’s an emergency and I’m completely out of them. Pls respond!!!!!!

@ShivaniM_KC I’ve survived on a single suitcase and backpack for 2 months in Canada and I am incredible excited to see my entire wardrobe again… Left the uk with 4 pairs of shoes, returning with 5, which is quite honestly a miracle.

@nerdabetic @FreeStyleDiabet @Abbott That’s actually insane. I wonder if this is a side effect of the healthcare hacking space. Peer support is one of the most important things in diabetes care, and these groups are overwhelmingly positive spaces that increase usage. Very shortsighted decision…

Very sad day in the diabetes community with @FreeStyleDiabet asking Facebook to close down many DOC Facebook peer support groups dedicated to Freestyle Libre- I’ve heard about this from many counties across the world: UK, Poland and others. Highly coordinated actions from @Abbott

Still in Canada for another 3 weeks! Spent the week running some very long experiments for proof of concept, and this coming week is the big one where we go for gold. Still making time outside of the lab for Canadian adventures though 🥰
