I just checked and it seems that in the last 10 years, since 2016, only 4 Latin American films (all from Brazil) have played in the main competition: AQUARIUS, BACURAU, MOTEL DESTINO, THE SECRET AGENT.
Only 4 films from the entire region in a decade 😦

The Cannes Film Festival’s Main Competition is stacked, but damn, not a single Latin American title. In Un Certain Regard there are 2 films: FOREVER YOUR MATERNAL ANIMAL from Costa Rica & THE MELTDOWN from Chile. Both by women directors: Valentina Maurel 🇨🇷 Manuela Martelli 🇨🇱

Tom Holland says that Christopher Nolan's ‘THE ODYSSEY’ is an “absolute masterpiece.” “There were certain sequences in the movie where I’m watching it and I’m just sort of thinking like, ‘How on earth has he done that? That has to be CG.' And then after the movie asking him, ‘That was definitely CG, right?’ And he’s like, ‘No, no, no, that’s all in camera effects. Why does Gen Z feel incapable of getting a second job, or part-time work? If he only has one job, he can work fifteen hours extra a week stacking shelves and save that for a house - and stop blaming other people for his inactivity.

Here’s a video I took while we were shooting. You can see on the upper right Tomas pouring water into a tube that runs between 2 panes of glass in front of the handheld camera Greig operates, giving a smeary, drippy look. Ryan stands in a cage of blinking IR lights which are invisible to the naked eye, but in the monitor it’s beautiful. We used this method for closeups. Medium-wides we did on the spaceship set with fewer lights & a lot of digital augmentation/replacement from ILM, and wides were fully digital from ILM, to match this look.

This is getting reposted to Tau Ceti and back, so: The astrophage collection scene (and the rest of PHM!) is a combined effort of practical in-camera effects and incredible VFX, both created by skilled human artists. Good reference imagery makes the CGI work even better!

Me acuerdo ese sentimiento de ir al cine a los 8 años sabiendo que, durante todo el día, no ibas a vivir una mayor explosión de estímulos y experiencias que en esas dos horas. Hoy, en cambio, el cine es el único lugar en el que sucede una pausa de la sobreestimulación del mundo.

Pero no es por “depresión” como tal. Es porque su estado físico (parapléjica) le causa mucho dolor físico, consume mucha morfina diaria, y todo eso fue a causa de un intento de suicido por el sufrimiento y dolor que le causó una violación GRUPAL.
Así que no, no es una eutanasia por “depresión”.

Mañana, Noelia será la primera persona en recibir la eutanasia por depresión en España. Noelia sufrió una violacion múltiple en el 2022, y a raíz del trauma que le ocasionó, intentó suicidarse.

This is terrible news. I hope everyone manages to find a job soon. Sony just acquired Pixomondo in 2022, why buy them just to close them down after only 4 years? What a waste of talent and creativity. Pixomondo has made amazing VFX work for decades.
