Trump attacked the pope and posted an image of himself as Jesus Christ on the same day for a reason: he has a messiah complex and correctly understands his movement as a personality cult in which he is the political and spiritual leader. That’s also why the only “faith leaders” he elevates are grifters like Paula White, who tells Christians that defying Trump is the same thing as defying God. That is what he believes, and why he is currently subjecting his followers to a test of faith to see whether their loyalty lies with him or with the God they say is above everyone else, which Trump finds unacceptable. Plenty of the people on the right—including and especially those who call themselves Christians—will bend the knee to Trump and turn their back on the things they claim are most dear to them. He actually enjoys seeing his supporters humiliated like this because it means he’s broken them.

Para 1840, la esperanza de vida apenas había subido a 35. Y eso que todo era “orgánico”: aire puro, agua sin procesar y animales de libre pastoreo. Aun así, la gente moría joven. Lo que realmente disparó la expectativa de vida no fue la “vida natural”, sino la ciencia: vacunas, antibióticos, saneamiento, tecnología médica y conocimiento acumulado. Por eso las expectativas razonables deben alinearse con lo que muestra la evidencia científica. Y si algo enseña la historia es esto: cada vez que confiamos en la evidencia, avanzamos; cada vez que la ignoramos, retrocedemos.

In 1903 the NYT proclaimed that man wouldn’t fly for a million years. They parroted the claim of the Smithsonian, the scientific authority on “flying” at the time. A mere 9 days later the Wright Brothers flew….. and a mere 66 years later we landed on the moon. Just imagine from impossible to fly to landing on the moon in a single lifetime. The human spirit is indomitable. Our imagination and ingenuity are limitless. Every time I get on a plane, a metal tube that weighs many tons with hundreds of people on it and we soar into the air at hundreds of miles an hour …. I pause for a moment and marvel at the power of the mind of man.

We're not going to cross the Atlantic ocean. 1. No one has any idea how far away the nearest land is. It could be thousands of miles! 2. Surely we can just build faster caravels? The problem is that wind can only push you so fast. 3. There are no landmarks out on the ocean. Sure you can use the stars to determine your latitude, but with no way of knowing your longitude you'll just get hopelessly lost. 4. The storms are ferociously powerful. The waves are huge. Ships would sink long before they reached the other side of the ocean. 5. There's no fresh water. You'd need to carry it all with you, along with all your food. The more stores you carry, the less capable wind is of propelling you, and the slower you go. There's no way you'd be able to carry enough to avoid death by thirst or starvation long before you reached land. The Sail Equation prevents it.

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us. We may not be alone, but we are stuck here for, essentially forever. 1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there. 2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy. 3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it. 4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break. 5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.

@prwolverine Ya Iran entregó el uranio ? Mientras todo esto del cese esta pasando , Iran podria estar ganando tiempo enriqueciendo uranio y fabricar 2 o 3 bombas nucleares. O peor aun, quizas ya las tienen y por eso el cese . 2 bombas hacen mas daño en Israel q 2 en Iran .
