@struberg @nmcl @MicroProfileIO So there will be no chance to unselect "auto-transpiling" in a jakarta.*-only-future for the developer (e.g. getting hard compile/runtime errors when javax is used)? Or will "auto-transpiling" older apps be an intrinsic feature of all Jakarta platforms?

@lukasvlcek @AWSOpen @adrianco It improves my life as bug hunter because I hope it will give more successful answers to questions like "does it work with xyz, or authentication/security method xyz", because it depends on "if it is open source, I can take a look, and try to reproduce"

@roidelapluie @elastic All in all, it's understandable. The "OSS only" distribution elastic.co/downloads/elas… is hard to find and the underlying repo is not clear. Important rule for open source is enabling an open source build for all, by not confusing users into downloading/installing proprietary code

If you have an AI ethics framework, but don’t have an ethics framework for the 99% of your decisions that aren’t AI then you’re not thinking about ethics, you’re thinking about PR

Mann, was für geballte Inkompetenz da. /MS

No, it really doesn't. Only if you add in marketing costs/shareholder profits. Yes I speak from experience (@da_maths) . I have long argued that there is a cost to publishing, which is fine (I was a publisher Elsevier & Proquest) - it's the profit margins which are not.
Sabine Hossenfelder@skdh

16/13 The numbers are also confirmed in this article: nature.com/news/open-acce… The bottom-line is, while exact numbers differ from journal to journal, from field to field, it takes publishers about $1000 at least to publish a paper. That money must come from somewhere.
