so i've been down this rabbit hole for days now where i started benchmarking local llms for tool calling and somehow ended up patching cuda kernels in llama.cpp at 2am trying to get google's turboquant kv cache compression working

@loktar00 for a 3090, it is the good parameters for using TurboQuant ? export PATH=/ia/llama-cpp-turboquant-cuda/build/bin:$PATH llama-server -m models-d/Qwopus3.5-27B-v3-Q4_K_M.gguf \ -c 132000 -n 4096 \ --cache-type-k q8_0 --cache-type-v turbo3 \ -fa on -np 1 -ngl 99

TurboQuant is getting ported to llama.cpp and if it actually delivers 6x memory compression with zero accuracy loss.... your 24GB 3090 basically becomes a 144GB card for KV cache. The local inference cost equation keeps getting more insane every week

A Google blog post just wiped $40 billion off the stock market. A blog post literally about a research paper that's been publicly available for 12 MONTHS. And nobody read it until last week. Here's what the most expensive blog post in history reveals about the AI industry: On March 25th, Google Research published a breakdown of an algorithm called TurboQuant. It compresses the working memory of AI models by 6x. Zero accuracy loss. Within hours, memory chip stocks started bleeding. Micron dropped 30% in 8 trading days. After posting the best quarter in their entire HISTORY. Samsung fell 5%. SK Hynix crashed 6%. SanDisk collapsed 6.5%. $40+ billion in market value gone. In a week. Because of a blog post. The internet immediately started calling it "Pied Piper" from HBO's Silicon Valley. The fictional startup that built a compression algorithm so good it broke the internet. Cloudflare's CEO called it "Google's DeepSeek moment." Sounds like a game-changing breakthrough, right? But here's where it gets really insane: The paper has been sitting on arXiv since April 2025. That's 12 months. Publicly available. Free to read. Anyone could've found it. Nobody on Wall Street bothered to look. Then Google slapped a blog post on top of it and the entire memory sector imploded overnight. And Google hasn't even DEPLOYED TurboQuant in their own systems. The company that invented the algorithm doesn't use it yet. Plus it only works on inference. Not training. But training is where the real memory demand is. The multi-billion dollar GPU clusters. The months-long model runs. TurboQuant doesn't touch any of that yet. So what actually got destroyed here? Micron just reported $23.8 billion in revenue. Nearly 3x year over year. Beat analyst estimates by 30%. Gross margins hit 80%. Higher than Nvidia. Their customers are only receiving 50 to 67% of the memory chips they actually need. The entire 2026 HBM supply is SOLD OUT under binding contracts. Global HBM spending is projected to increase 58% this year to $54.6 billion. And the stock crashed 30% because of a compression algorithm that hasn't been deployed anywhere. One analyst put it perfectly: "It's like saying Aramco should crash because Toyota made a better hybrid engine." So here's what this actually reveals: The AI market is no longer trading on fundamentals. It's trading on NARRATIVES. A single blog post moved more money than most companies will ever be worth. Not because the technology changed anything today - but because it changed the STORY. Wall Street doesn't price what IS happening. It prices what MIGHT happen. And right now, AI stocks move more on a theoretical paper than on record-breaking earnings. This is literally the new normal. Your company can triple revenue, beat every estimate, have customers literally begging for more product than you can make, and still lose a third of your value because someone at Google published a research summary. The fundamentals didn't change. The narrative did. And in this market, narrative is worth $40 billion more than reality. For anyone paying attention, this is the clearest signal yet that we're in a sentiment-driven market. NOT a fundamentals-driven one. The question isn't whether AI will change the world. It's whether the market can tell the difference between a real breakthrough and a blog post. And right now, it can't.

ZELENSKYY: Russia started war, committed war crimes, occupied part of our country. It's not just land — it's homes, people's lives. They stole childhood from our children. That's why, when we are asked what compromises we are ready to make, it sounds UNBELIEVABLY STRANGE to us.

‘Hello, Katya, they let me out of the pit again. As u can see, they beat me all night. Send my commander 300,000 rubles ( 3000 euro ). Otherwise, they’ll put me in the pit again,’ — the russian invader asks his wife to send money to his commander so that they stop torturing him.

🆘️📢 NEW UPDATE: 13 pairs 🥾 for the 209th‼️ It breaks my heart to write this update, but I want to be honest: The fundraiser is moving agonizingly slow 🥺. While time is relentlessly ticking away, the guys at the front are battling obstacles that those of us sitting in the warmth can hardly imagine. Current Status: 🎯 Goal: 490€ ✅️ Received: 185€ ⚠️ Missing: 305€ 🅿️🅿️PayPal: kerstin.fackeldey@gmail.com It’s easy to forget that soldiers spend the vast majority of their lives on their feet. But what are they standing in? ▪︎Detaching Soles: For many, the soles are already peeling away completely. ▪︎Wet & Freezing: Their boots are torn & full of holes. This means every step through the mud leads to ice-cold, soaked feet for hours, for days on end. ▪︎Constant Pain: Worn-out treads & broken material lead to blisters & infections that simply cannot heal in the field. "Good boots aren't a luxury. They are the foundation a soldier stands on. Without them, every meter is a battle against their own body." A small Contribution, but with a massive Impact 💙💛 I know my fundraising goal looks small compared to large fundraiser, but there is no different: The impact is the same - both are enormous‼️ You are giving a human being: Protection from frostbite & infections. Please, help them 🙏🏽 We cannot stand by & watch them sacrifice for our safety in boots that are falling apart. Every € brings us closer to a pair of rugged military boots‼️ x.com/i/status/20401…

A mother of four. A combat medic. They call her “Matushka.” She didn’t come to war as a soldier. She came because there were not enough medics — and her battalion was deploying to the outskirts of Kreminna. Her homeland. Luhansk region. In civilian life, Natalia was a lawyer, working in local administration. By 2022, she put that aside and joined Ukraine’s National Guard @ng_ukraine. She hadn’t practiced medicine for 26 years. She relearned everything — fast. Because there was no time. Her call sign — “Matushka” — came from the soldiers. At the time, they didn’t even know she had four children. But they understood something else: she would take care of them like her own. “The hardest path in this war is the infantry,” she says. “Where the infantry stands — that is our land.” Today, many of her fighters are under 30. Volunteers. Educated. Deliberate. She calls them “my boys.” A combat medic’s job isn’t just about wounds. It’s everything — chronic illness, exhaustion, survival. But the core is simple: keep them alive. Carrying the wounded isn’t the hardest part. Running under fire isn’t the hardest part. Waiting is. Waiting while drones hang overhead. Waiting when you know someone needs you — and you cannot reach them. Once, a soldier was critically wounded. Internal injuries. No access. She and another fighter saved him over the radio — her knowledge, his hands. When he reached the stabilisation point, a doctor asked: “What did you give him to keep him alive?” She didn’t. They did. Together. She always tries to be the first face they see when they return. “When the armour opens and you see her — you know everything will be okay,” they say. “My motivation is my boys. The way they look at you. The way they believe.” “They are my shield — and I am their rear.” Her family worries. She doesn’t tell them everything. “I’m fine,” she says. Because this is not just about today. It’s about going home. Liberating Luhansk. Letting children return to where they were born. “Hold the line. No step back. No matter how hard it gets.” Because for her — and for them — this is still their land. #Ukraine #WarInUkraine #Frontline #Medics #HumanStories 🎥👇

Only six RTs below and barely any progress with collection today. It's STILL standing at $155 collected from $870 needed. I couldn't post often today as I haven't felt great today after being bombed, but it doesn't explain the lack of any activity. ➡️ PP: zakharchenko69@gmail.com
