Ok, rage bait aside. Marketing in web3 is HARD MODE. We're working in an industry that always talks about this illusive holy grail of "mass adoption", but our industry terms and culture are so exclusionary & cringe that it's hard to imagine marketing to the masses. So the shortcuts are tempting as ever. I talk a lot about how awful it is to see so many marketers taking cheap shortcuts, even though they full well know that it's hurting the potential for long term, sustainable growth. But I get it, you gotta hit your KPIs. But aren't we all tired of the same cycle? We've seen this playbook time and time again. Airdrop incentives to build a "community". Draw the attention of airdrop farmers. Drive hype, attention, yaps and mindshare. Distribute airdrop to "community". Massive sell pressure on the token. Get mad at airdrop farmers for...airdrop farming. Blame them for post-tge failures. etc etc etc "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over again and expecting different results." If we want different results, we need to try different things. Maybe it's time to rewrite the playbook?
