Both of my babies received the vitamin K shot and barring an equivalent pharmaceutical grade alternative, all my future babies will as well But there is an effective oral schedule in use across Europe that could be administered by pediatricians here, and it's time we allow it
ProPublica@propublica

Many of the babies’ autopsy reports were clear: Vitamin K deficiency was the immediate cause of death, or contributed to it. The reports also included details about parents refusing the vitamin K shot, a long-standard injection, for their newborns. propublica.org/article/vitami…

@LizzyStarrrdust If you count the ones who used to grab my cash and then go to “use the bathroom” or something and disappear…lots But were they really *sex* workers?

I’m sincerely jealous of the ability to act as if belief is there, when it isn’t quite, or only sometimes. Was born a lapsed Catholic, dabbled in a return to faith, and I love and miss Catholicism. I may just be too literal minded about facts. (Tbh, this may seem petty but I also find the prohibition on nonprocreative sex acts impossible to assent to morally. I don’t think I will ever believe in my heart that oral sex to completion is a moral wrong)

@shagbark_hick More than $1 but only bc I can afford to and it makes me feel generous. $1 seems fine. If it’s a $15+ cocktail you’re in the kind of place where you should tip $2+ though or don’t go there

Porn & dating app Grubhub hookups aren’t disgusting to me because they’re sexual; they’re disgusting because they’re anti-sexual, anti-passion, expressions of defeat; flabby, fleshy dopamine crumbs to distract the peasants from their own lifelessness. They’re for apes in cages

@franzsherbert Fair! My timeline has been full of people saying much more extreme things about her translation, but you did not, and I agree that the lips/mouth case for sexism is a bit silly.

@xminuszero I didn't say she was inaccurate, nor do I think she's necessarily wrong about all translations being ideologically conditioned to some degree. But here her interpretation along gender lines seems wrong (accusing other translators of sexism on very shaky linguistic grounds)

Every time the Emily Wilson Odyssey comes up on here (so every 15 seconds) I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because people think seeing it as a quasi-feminist reappraisal was something right-wing idiots made up, when in fact it was more or less explicitly part of the marketing!

@AmericanGwyn To be clear though, I am looking forward to the time when my kids are older and/or I’m working less, and I can curl up in a chair more often again with a hard-copy book.

Able—yes. Enjoyable—relative to not reading books, yes, and that is the realistic alternative. I’m a doctor doing hospital medicine. I’m busy but there are many stretches of a few minutes during the work day when I can read a few pages. I would look silly walking through the hospital hallways reading a novel in hard copy, but everyone is staring at their phones all day anyway. As for reading at home, I have 3 kids aged 5 or less, and often computer-based work to catch up on in the evenings as well, so there’s not much quiet time to sit down with a book, though I do it once in a while when I can. Made it through All the Pretty Horses, A Distant Mirror, and the Epic of Gilgamesh this way recently, and now reading Charles Martin’s translation of Metamorphoses.

I’m gonna say something actually harsh and cruel for a change: if you really love your man why do you need random disappointing strangers on the internet to think you’re hot? And what does this say about your love for him and/or ability to love in general and/or understanding of what love is?

There's more context. The post you were replying to (by Anna Khachiyan) was a reaction to this post by @CartoonsHateHer, about her outfit: x.com/CartoonsHateHe…. (That's pretty clear because Anna's previous tweet had explicitly quoted that original CHH post, making fun of it, see x.com/annakhachiyan/…) Anyway I agree with you that pure thirst traps are usually unwise to post. I just don't think that's the same as what Anna was criticizing here. Sorry for the confusion & for this overly long explanation.

Sorry for wondering if you were AI. The person you’re talking about (CHH) isn’t exactly some e-girl with a bunch of slavering fanboys. She’s a (good) writer and while I don’t share her taste in fashion she clearly has her own style. There are plenty of losers out there, I just don’t think you comments apply to this particular case. It doesn’t seem that you know much about her either so it wouldn’t make sense for you to have strong views on her situation.

@xminuszero @annakhachiyan ill stop since you thought i was ai with this post but even the women who post that junk know the men who fawn over them for it arent healthy its different if they extend grace for somebody acting insecure enough to need loser men to validate them but the losers are losers

@Synesthetika @annakhachiyan @pangramlabs OK. The points you make apply in some situations I’m sure, but the original poster is just a lady who has a good relationship with her husband and she likes posting pictures of herself in the clothes she made so I don’t necessarily think they apply in this case.

@xminuszero @annakhachiyan if he tolerates it those women do worse with that boundary crossing permission and they lose respect anyway even if they had any to begin with if he doesn't hes like instantly more attractive to the rest of us and sometimes the delulu pushing boundaries as a test as well

@xminuszero @annakhachiyan if you truly have no ego complex, other people thinking you're hot should be inconsequential recognizing Vanity is problematic should be the standard healthy view of life. Not 'weird'

@ghostowlredux @annakhachiyan Sure it’s possible, but the OPP (@CartoonsHateHer) has a very solid relationship by all public indications so who cares if she posts occasional pics of her wearing tight-ish handmade clothes which may or may not make her look hot depending on your taste?

@annakhachiyan @xminuszero Yeah, I've seen gay guys in relationships do that on here, and it just seems like such an obviously bad move and counterproductive (as well as as indicative of their relationships maybe not being so solid or deep).

@Enkwelos @LizzyStarrrdust I think this is overstated. There’s a lot more to why a guy would want to fuck a woman’s asshole than just mechanics

@LizzyStarrrdust It’s literally a mechanical act. Men think mechanically anyway, but sex for men is like explicitly mechanical. Like, we like that. I understand that women really enjoy the narrative of sex, and the narrative can be fun, but that’s not the base level reason of why men like sex.

This is an excellent example of the lack of theory of mind women exhibit when witnessing a man's normal mechanistic thinking about sex. She can "get catching tender and sexual feelings for..." "But theorizing about the tightness of her asshole and "fucking her brains out"? That's porn. I do not think that 17th century peasants were this inventive." No. That's a male-brained conception of sex. This is a normal way that men think about sex. Yes 17th century peasants were this inventive. You don't think 17th century peasants wanted to "fuck her brains out" too? Oh honey. Here's a letter from Napoleon to Josephine from 1796. When you weed out the flowery language, he's essentially saying I can't wait to stick my dick in you and eat your pussy." This is amongst the most normal of male sexual desires. Women want men to always express tender feelings surrounding sex. Which is fine but, they often cannot see that while a man may have tender feelings towards you, he also thinks about sex very mechanistically, wants to stick his dick in your pussy and fuck your brains out.

If he's in therapy for porn addiction it's definitely not working. Like I get catching tender and sexual feelings for a smart woman that listens to you without judgment. But theorizing about the tightness of her asshole and "fucking her brains out"? That's porn. I do not think that 17th century peasants were this inventive. I think man's natural state is down bad, sure, but having openly violently degrading thoughts to the point of constant distraction? That's being brainwashed into a psychopath by porn.
