We are currently investigating a filesystem corruption issue on the server which XMPP.is runs. It appears the host node had some strange storage controller issues, and as a result caused filesystem corruption.

The backup has been restored, and things are looking good. Unfortunately if you performed any action within the past 3 days, such as create a new account, changed your password, or did anything else - you will have to redo that.

A 3 day old backup will be restored shortly, as this block-level copy does not have a corrupted filesystem.

Notice ‼️ An emergency migration will be conducted impacting the Unredacted Matrix server & XMPP.is (unredacted.org/services/si/). The purpose is detailed in x.com/unredacted_org… Start time: 02:30 UTC (October 9th, 2024) End time: Unknown, but likely several hours During this time, the Matrix server & XMPP.is will be inaccessible during most of the migration timeframe. The server is back up after a restore from yesterday's backup. Some recent data might have been lost since the time of last backup. We're still trying to investigate what happened to the old server. Will update this when we find out.

We have been unable to get a recovery ISO booted over the server's remote console (it's too slow). We are working on restoring an offsite backup to another server.

There has been an issue during regular maintenance of the XMPP server. The server is currently down while we investigate. It appears there is filesystem corruption which we'll attempt to repair. Follow for updates.
