@xmrstyle @Ray_Henson @WSOP Yes. I haven’t seen a chess clock solution yet work in practice but I heard a few people were working on the tech. Would be an interesting experiment.

I’ve played the @WSOP main event for over 20 years. I have multiple top 1-2% finishes. I finished 127th yesterday.
The tanking this year was beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The main event absolutely needs a shot clock with time banks at some point maybe starting day4.
Putting it on day 7 with no warning? Absurd. 20 seconds also too tough pre. Maybe 30 ish. And 1 min if action is reopened.
The problem with calling the clock is that if you’re at all an introvert you’re unlikely to call clock. The one time I called clock this main the person I called it on was immediately like: who called clock on me? Who?
Trusting the floors to monitor is a fine solution but it might end up being too subjective.
The stalling is only getting worse though, and I hate to say it, there’s nothing that would magically reverse the trend. It will only get worse unpoliced.

@gaucho2121 @xmrstyle @Ray_Henson @WSOP Best way imo is dealer hits a button on iPad when dealing begins. Would be great if had it wired with shuffler but doubt that could happen

@xmrstyle @gaucho2121 @WSOP Ya would love chess clock as long as the clock starts after the allotted time expires. I’ve seen proposals where chess clock starts as soon as it’s your action and i don’t like that

Have been writing a Winners & Losers of the WSOP column for my Substack and was almost done but looks like I get to add a couple of losers to it:
1) The rec players who made Day 6 of the Main Event before having the rules changed on them.
2) Whoever made this decision.
As Phil Hellmuth would say … What are we doing?

One of the top personalities in our game
Someone who always takes time for pros and amateurs
Someone that provides excellent content
One of the top players online and live
Funny and engaging
Just some of many positive attributes of @padspoker and they basically shadow banned him from feature tables during this great main event run. Why??? Because he is a rep of a competing brand? Or maybe it’s just a coincidence but either way shame shame on production.

I don’t care what anyone says! It’s criminal to put a shot clock in with 5 tables left in the main! It’s total disadvantage for rec players and advantage to pros! I’m all for it as long as players know before tourney starts! This is a really bad look in WSOP when they could easily have floorman patrolling slow play! #wsopMain

At least give them more time banks than normal. You chose the worst possible solution
Chance Kornuth@ChancesCards
This needs to be reconsidered immediately. This is so unbelievably unfair to the amateur players. Playing for $10mil and adding this in mostly so it looks good on TV is outrageous. Even the pressure of not having experienced using a shot clock before can be overwhelming. Please put the players first @WSOP

Hot take on the late intro of shot clocks to the @WSOP Main Event:
I JUST played in an MTT where @ARIAPoker did the same thing- there was a huge table imbalances in # of hands being played ($200k up top). Not one rec I played with the whole time had trouble learning and adjusting (and most had never played with a shot clock before)- I don't think it's as hard as most are making it out to be in general.
Pros take more time per hand (on average) than recs and giving them less time to think more deeply narrows the gap. Pros also have much better awareness of pay jumps than recs and lose that tanking edge (which also makes the game less fun for them).
That said- this deep into the WSOP ME is the one time NOT to do it. $150k locked up is more than some of their personal bests and still fighting for life-changing millions. Enough to make most peoples' heads spin even without a shot clock. Not to mention the theatrics is part of what makes this event special. Agree with @dwpoker - hope it goes away for the FT (though they'd need to decide and announce it ASAP if so).
Also, 6 time banks is not NEARLY enough, esp when it's a spontaneous decision this late.

Heard they added shot clock to main event with 20 seconds pre…. Completely awful decision and insanely unfair to every recreational still in the field
English

@TheCaitlynBot Yep. But, because you can doesn’t make it right.
English

@Ray_Henson @gaucho2121 @WSOP agree adding some kind of clock in future sure, but would have to be longer than what is used currently and more time banks given at a lot of intervals
chess clock ideal solution
English

@gaucho2121 @WSOP Well said. Only thing is i think clock starting after dinner day 3 is best to prevent massive pre bubble stalling
English

Absolutely insane. We really have to stop letting them get away with all this bullshit

Absolutely ridiculous decision by @WSOP to introduce 20/30second shotclock on day 7 of the main.
It’s a huge disrespect to the players, to the game and to the WSOP Main Event brand.
3mins total time for a 10 hour day. 10mill up top.
That’s poker folks.
