@circle OG @nano $XNO has been doing true feeless, instant transfers at any scale since 2015 without batching or settlement delays. Why not build on or integrate the protocol that's already proven for this exact use case?

Nanopayments are not “small payments.” They’re sub-cent, high-frequency transfers, often as little as $0.000001, designed for machines, not humans. As AI agents transact autonomously, traditional rails break down. We need infrastructure built for agent-scale value exchange.

We should build more crypto tools for refugees and stateless people. Because there may unfortunately be many more refugees and stateless people…and from all social classes. Ukrainians leaving the war. Californians leaving the state. Gulf workers leaving the missiles. Doesn’t necessarily mean huge design changes. If you build convenient consumer tools for millions that work in peacetime, then they’ll often be robust enough to work in wartime. Because crypto is wartime mode, but for the Internet. Public blockchains were created to resist datacenter attacks, hacks, and network blocks. It’s simply enlightened self-interest to build scalable, reliable tools. For example: Signal works for poor people in poor countries in poor conditions, so it’ll likely work for you. Stablecoins are actually getting to this level of ubiquity in crypto, and already making a real dent globally, including the new gold-backed varieties. But we can do more.
andi (twocents.com)@Nexuist

It’s very unfortunate that crypto is a great solution for refugees who are stateless and forced to interact with crumbling institutions and payment rails, but nobody in crypto builds for refugees because they’re not useful consumers for gambling

@Opcode_Network A successful consensus attack means the system already failed. No network "survives" that.

If your transaction requires fees, it's not internet money. If your payment takes minutes, it's not internet money. If your protocol needs L2s, rollups, bridges, or batching just to function, it's not internet money. $XNO

The Nano Button is now finished! - 2,992,007,593 total clicks - 4,131 XNO given away for free (~$2,000) - 379,823 on chain transactions, 0 fees, and most transactions confirmed in less than 0.5 seconds - 1.36 M unique visitors - 363.57M requests It was a lot of fun scaling the app and fighting against all the bots. I hope this has helped many people become interested in Nano. Thank you all for participating. Follow @TheNanoButton and enable notification to get notified of the next event.

We're now at $1,000 distributed for free. Peak at 6k simultaneously connected users. The vast majority of withdrawals were completed and confimed in less than a second. During withdrawals peak hours, some users might have waited a few seconds because of my GPU overloaded.

@Opcode_Network "Battle-tested" usually just means a network has had enough attention to be attacked. Nano has already gone through multiple large spam attacks and the network kept running.

@xnonoom "running" with little to no attention/uptake. In comparison BCH and XMR are truly battle-tested.

Nano has been running for over 10 years, so it's already one of the longer running networks. "What happens if the majority becomes hostile" isn't a Nano-specific issue, it's literally the security model of every consensus system. Re. infrastructure incentives: exchanges, payment processors, and apps that rely on the network already run nodes today.

@xnonoom long term incentives for maintaining protocol infrastructure. It's a huge question mark when it comes to nano. Its consensus mechanism needs to be battletested too. we don't know how it behaves if majority of the nodes are hostile for example. (disclm.: I have a nano bag too)

If AI agents, robots, and autonomous services start paying each other, they'll want money that behaves like packets on the internet. Only one cryptocurrency actually behaves that way. The industry may rediscover something embarrassing: the best payment protocol was already built in 2015. $XNO

@Opcode_Network I actually agree with you. Tribalism is the cancer of crypto. But if your system requires fees to function, maybe the criticism isn't "tribalism". Maybe the base layer just isn't good enough.

@xnonoom This is the main cancer of crypto...unhinged tribalism. all of these protocols are highly experimental & mostly untested, yet coin-fascists (falsely) believe that their choosen network is the CHOSEN one, destined for world domination. Try to obtain a functional brain.

Hey @brian_armstrong - I know you probably won't read or respond to this. But here goes anyway: We in the Nano community are a passionate bunch. Many of us have been here since 2017-18. If you take a look at some of the stuff we've built on top of Nano, I think you will be impressed. @NanoGPTcom, @SubnanoMe, @Nanogotchi_com - just to name a few. The thing is, with Nano's fast and fee-less properties, it's uniquely positioned for value transfer, both human-to-human but especially also machine-to-machine (via #x402, for example). But here's the kicker: We need established, trusted on/off ramps to really make a dent. Nano's properties are one-of-a-kind, truly - there are no other fee-less currencies out there. So please, Brian - list $XNO. I'm probably naïve in thinking this will reach you. But damn it I'm going to try!
