@stonevial @Arnold_Platon The Serbs use the word dinja with a short ny, but all the Hungarians I know strongly emphasize the "nny", both in north Serbia and small Hungary

Hungarians call a watermelon "görögdinnye", a Greek melon "görög" - Greek "dinnye" - melon, from a Slavic word that ultimately comes from the name of the ancient Cretan city of Kydonia (That city is called Chania today, which apparently comes from Persian via Arabic)

Given how much linguistic/ethnic diversity there was, it's remarkable how religiouslly diverse the Kingdom of Hungary was too. This great map shows it not only geographically, but also within and between cities as well as within individual national groups (top left).

At 144+ episodes and growing, the History of the Germans podcast (@germanshistory) has emerged as one of the greats. Starting officially at 919 CE, it provides a fascinating lens on a part of medieval history that we typically don't get in the US. Highly recommended.

Was a bit rough weather so arrived late but Went to WTC to meet-up with old friends and darn was i not dissapointed Had a freaksing blast over the few days I were there For sure is giving warmachine a go in a not too far of future mainly to see everyone in Düsseldorf next year
