@Grimezsz it drives me insane when book -> movie adaptations drop or water down scars like this for mainstream appeal (mortal engines, ready player one, etc). like, no! you made her less sexy for no reason. what are we doing?

I find facial wounds so so beautiful. It's so arresting to wear your bravery on your face. I think this is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Met a girl missing an army recently and I was stunned by her beauty. In a world of fake it's the only real thing in some ways

@QiaochuYuan I think it's not that deep. using fake slurs and references to actual despicable things is fun in an edgy way, and they flew a bit too close to the sun

this is semiotically fascinating to me. if you don’t think AI has personhood then surely the real villains here are AI labs? but it would of course be politically radioactive to call for the deaths of AI researchers. so the murderous rage gets displaced onto AI instead, which is simultaneously not-a-person enough that you can get away with fervently wishing for its death in public, yet person enough that “genocide” feels like a meaningful term to apply to it

@9chabard at least what fable suspects is garbled slang in the original caption and a lot of porn in the training data

@9chabard remember when whisper models would transcribe "please like and subscribe" if there was any garbled sound at all at the end of its input? anyway this is that.

@LinkofSunshine it's fine but only if you're actually racist. otherwise it's cultural appropriation

@Favwontmiss do DSM diagnostic criteria even do a good job of delineating the borders between natural categories? I've never gotten that impression

@Favwontmiss in which case, what is the issue here? is there actually a significant problem of people harmfully misunderstanding themselves or hurting themselves with therapies or other strategies because of the category they perceive themselves in?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but self-diagnosis is only valid when you actually meet the diagnostic criteria of the condition you're claiming.

@Favwontmiss to me it seems that this would generally happen because someone feels connected to the category in ways the diagnostic criteria don't capture and/or benefits from the same things as people in the category

@Favwontmiss why would someone self-diagnose when they do not fit the diagnostic criteria? not doubting this, I'm just wondering what motivation would cause this thing you are trying to prevent?

I'm not like other girls. I think anthropic's erratic product decisions are bad *because* they make everyone mad, which worsens the companies longterm prospects as a respected voice in norms and policy

@xsphi People probably don't, on the whole, have a "solution" to how to finally stamp out the last vestiges of normal healthy desires, no.

with the right hormone mix you can mostly cure allosexuality, but I've found you still crave the touch of someone who loves you every now and then. does anyone have a solution to this? maybe some sort of disso/psych stack? lmk

or you wouldn't even have to ask, because you'd trust deep down that your community would support you being ashamed, no matter what it was about

I imagine a nice thing about being a woman in a conservative society is no second-order shame. if you're ashamed of some fetish or weird body thing or whatever you'd ask people: "is it normal to be ashamed of this?" and they'd be like "yaass queen" and you'd say "oh good 😊"
