Space-optimized heat pumps are nascent afaik. SpaceX can probably jump in on the Tesla know-how and supply chain since every Tesla has one. Any company that makes rocket engines has the know-how even if it's a different machine

And again, it is possible to put your heat pump such that most of the heat lands there directly (depending how hot the hot side is)

If energy is cheap enough heat rejection becomes a non-issue btw. Heat pumps move more heat than they generate, and the generated heat can in principle fall directly in the hot side

@CryptoGeorgist Yeah! We built so much that new additions slowed way down because the grid had saturated. Now batteries are growing really fast, and I expect to see more solar additions. We just approved 9GW of solar in the central valley

Pretty astonishing. In Texas, between 10:00 am and 4:00 p.m., 80-90% of electricity comes from carbon free sources. And storage is already a significant contributor in the early morning and evening

@souljagoyteller No fucking way. Principia Mathematica is also not really a classic, reading the words is not really important. Engineers and scientists do not read it. Even the math he describes is a historical cul de sac.

Unless you’re planning to study the philosophy of science, is it really worth it for the average humanities student to read Newton’s Principia in 2026?

It is the hardest of the great books, in my opinion. Also an incredible entry point into seeing the foundations of mathematical physics and what this form of thinking both offers and obscures.
