The 19y kid brother of a family friend came over for lunch. The guy starts telling me how he is learning to do "day trading."
When I point out most day traders lose money and better gains can be had by investing in stock fundamentals...I get a blank stare. Then a dim light bulb appears above his head and he proudly says "oh! you mean VALUE investing like Warren Buffett! No, I dont do that." 💀

Not sure how you can have this opinion after seeing hype, vvv, zec (kinda), etc
We’re still in the bottleneck phase of the ai trade so ofc equities will outperform. Crypto isn’t a place that wins when physical infra or huge amounts of capital are needed to build something out, it’s very much something that wins once we’re past that phase
If you’re exclusively looking at leaders like btc, eth and sol then yes crypto looks like shit, but if you look in other areas there are some very interesting spots that should excite you as a trader
I believe majors continue to underperform and make new lows this year but think the wider crypto landscape is the most interesting it’s been since 2024. It’s not possible to have an 8 person startup worth 13b in tradfi land, and that, alone, should excite you about crypto

Do you believe the crypto industry is actually a net positive for humanity or just that the political response to it should've been different?
Politically it might have been a failure, but crypto genuinely seems to add little of value to the world, so it's reasonable that a politician who cares would take issue with it.
It seems to me like crypto mostly ends up being a tool for criminal enterprise, scammers and gambling.

The last time this happened it was a disaster for the Democrats. In return for her support, she insisted on a network of key appointments. One was Gensler, who alienated Silicon Valley to such an extent that many founders switched to supporting the Republicans.

getting tired of this sort of discourse. if you're really that smart then your inability to simplify your language is a skill issue *on your part* in a myriad of ways (social incompetence, inability to distill something to its core which highlights your own lack of understanding)

Once you hit about a 20-point IQ gap, communication starts to completely break down. It's not that the lower IQ person is "stupid" (although that can often be the case) or the higher one is arrogant, it's that you're literally operating on different systems. A 20 point difference (roughly 1.3 standard deviations) means: Vocabulary and abstraction levels diverge sharply. What feels like crystal clear logic to one side sounds like vague, pretentious word salad to the other. Jokes land flat. Metaphors get taken literally. Complex cause and effect chains get simplified into "this good, that bad." Different time horizons and pattern recognition. One person thinks in months or years and sees systems, the other is locked into days or immediate rewards. Trying to explain second order effects feels like speaking another language. Also, processing speed and working memory gaps. The higher IQ person is already three steps ahead, getting impatient. The lower IQ person feels talked down to or overwhelmed. Both walk away frustrated. Both have wasted each others time.
