One of the very best films out of Sundance 2026. IF I GO WILL THEY MISS ME is a tender coming-of-age story deeply indebted to the visual poetry of Charles Burnett. I hope y'all come out to see it in Chicago.

IF I GO WILL THEY MISS ME Twelve-year-old Lil Ant transforms his working-class neighborhood beneath the LAX flight path into a living mythology, where family members become gods and the sky is crowded with endless departures. Directed by Walter Thompson-Hernandez.

Man with Asperger’s has been arrested 32 times for impersonating NYC transit workers and hijacking buses and trains, just to drive the routes perfectly. Darius McCollum is a New Yorker with Asperger’s syndrome who gained international notoriety for his lifelong obsession with the city’s transit system. Since the age of 15, McCollum has been arrested 32 times for impersonating Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) employees and "hijacking" subway trains and buses. Remarkably, he never sought to steal the vehicles; instead, he would drive the actual routes, make the correct station announcements, and keep perfectly to the schedule. His story was the subject of the 2016 documentary "Off the Rails," highlighting the intersection of neurodiversity and the criminal justice system.

It’s also important to hold judges accountable for the lives they’ve ruined. The officers make the arrests but the judges choose the sentence based on their own discretion. So…

Since the offset thing happened, I’ve been looking into gambling addiction, just out of curiosity and it is honestly one of the top worst ones to have with the highest suicide rates. So to see all of these gambling apps, marketed to youth is kind of crazy

Psychology already named this. It's called post-traumatic growth, and the data on it is one of the most counterintuitive findings in the entire field. Tedeschi and Calhoun identified it in 1996. They studied people who'd survived the worst things that can happen to a human: cancer, combat, assault, the death of a child. Roughly half to two-thirds of trauma survivors reported experiencing it. They didn't just recover. They came out with a fundamentally different operating system. The inventory measures five specific changes: a deeper appreciation for being alive, stronger relationships, recognition of new possibilities, greater personal strength, and a shift in spiritual or existential understanding. Five dimensions of transformation, all triggered by the same mechanism that breaks other people permanently. The part that bends your brain: resilient people rarely experience it. If you bounce back quickly, you don't get the growth. The psychological shattering is the prerequisite. Your core beliefs about how the world works have to be destroyed before you can rebuild them into something stronger. The people who struggle the most are the ones who come out the most transformed. Camus got closest to articulating it philosophically. The Myth of Sisyphus opens with one sentence: the only truly serious philosophical problem is suicide. His entire book is an argument that once you've stared into the void and rejected it, you don't return to your previous life. You enter a different one. He called it revolt. The Chinese language solved the naming problem. 择生. Two characters. 择 means to choose. 生 means life. The decision to live. The inverse of 择死, the decision to die. English needs an entire paragraph to describe what Mandarin captures in two syllables. 4.4M people watched this clip because the feeling is universal but the vocabulary doesn't exist in most languages. You recognize the moment. You just never had a word for it.

I genuinely don’t understand how some person who works for an insurance company can have the ability to decline treatment or deem “not medically necessary” when it is prescribed or ordered by a licensed medical professional. The whole system is unethical.
