Hi All, it is with a very heavy heart that I, Eoin, eldest son of Eamonn, have to tell you that unfortunately my father passed away suddenly on last Tuesday 21st. He is sorely missed by his wife Angelina and his sons Conor, Kevin and Aidan.

@calahonda4 @BarryWhyte85 The CANDIDATE gets their costs back if they get 12.5% of quota ..... NOT their backers?
English

@BarryWhyte85 Of course we know FF will be voting JG to get the election costs back. And yes, it’s secret ballot , good answer.

The Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan has said that when a lawyer takes on a case, it doesn’t mean “they are endorsing the opinions or behaviour of that client”.
He also said “I've noticed in recent years from all sides of the political spectrum, criticism being directed at lawyers because of the clients who they represent. I don't think it's correct or fair to criticise lawyers because of the actions you [took] in the past…”
When I asked him if would he be voting for Heather Humphreys like some of his party colleagues, he replied “I’ll be voting the same way you’ll be voting… by secret ballot”.

@doyle_esther We've had them visit on and off for a few years now. Never saw them near our apple tree (now harvested!) They don't tend to stay around for any lengthy period so our smaller birds don't seem to suffer.
English

@yamon2008 These lads and lassies get very bold and territorial. They attack the small birds.
They will also eat your apples, even the sour bramleys.

@molloy1916 How can FF recoup their costs? Candidates get
THEIR costs if they get 12.5% of quota NOT their backers?

Fine Gael seeks 'miracle' to save Humphreys' presidential campaign
Heather Humphreys has it 'all to play for' Simon Harris, the party leader and tanaiste says, as Catherine Connolly fends off difficult questions
Humphreys drafted in extra government advisers into her campaign team as she battled to make up ground in the race for Aras an Uachtarain ahead of a crunch Prime Time TV debate on Tuesday.
But there is significant anxiety across Fine Gael about how the campaign has played out.

@thelittlegreen6 Where's Mehole? Surely he's on this dream team?

#Aras25 #spoilthevote
I hadn't realised out of 1,492,338 votes cast in the last presidential election there was only 18,438 spoiled votes (1.24% of the total). Turnout was 43.9%
Two things 4 sure next Friday, there'll be a lower Turnout & a higher total of Spoiled Votes

'For Fianna Fáil .... There was a flicker of hope .... that Jim Gavin could ... get the 12.5 per cent of the vote that would have saved its election expenses. '
Surely only candidates expenses are reimbursed NOT those of their backers?

Catherine spoke in Dail Eireann after that visit and explained how the sanctions were leading to medicines not being available to innocent citizens .... !kildarestreet.com/debate/?id=201…

You're currently backing a candidate that went to Syria AFTER they had slaughtered innocents with chemical weapons, and who, after her return, campaigned for ending sanctions against the pictured dictators regime.

Paul Murphy 🇵🇸@paulmurphy_TD
A shocking picture has emerged from Syria of a senior politician meeting with a murderous dictator.

Are FF's core voters abandoning ship?

Combined support for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael at historic low - Aisling Corcoran Today’s Irish Times/Ipsos B&A poll reveals a drop in support for Fianna Fáil, down five percentage points to 17 per cent. The gamble on Jim Gavin has not paid off. Some of the party’s voters appear to have drifted across to Sinn Féin, which is up five points to 27 per cent. Fine Gael records a modest increase in support, up one point to 18 per cent. #FFG #CostofLivingCrisis irishtimes.com/politics/2025/…

@TCM39599285 That's a long slow effect .... 5 points down since last poll feels more like a Martin /Gavin reaction?
English

@garrethmcdaid Would she not lose her chance of recovering campaign expenses if she pulled out?
