This award recognises our decades-long work in diabetes care, research & community outreach.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition characterized by high blood glucose levels that are usually diagnosed between 24-28 weeks of pregnancy. Our recent studies show that it can also occur in the first trimester of pregnancy.
The increasing incidence of GDM can be attributed to various factors, including genetic predisposition, lifestyle changes, and the rising rates of obesity. With appropriate care and management, most women with GDM can have healthy pregnancies and deliver healthy babies.
