WHOT: Card Game or Prophecy? Growing up, we played a game called WHOT. You draw, you play, you hope not to be caught unprepared. But hidden in that innocent game was a prophecy…One we didn’t know we were rehearsing for. There was the dreaded call: “General Market!” Everyone must pick one. No argument, no exemption. That’s where Nigeria is now. Subsidy gone? Pick one. Inflation? Pick one. Power tariff? Pick one. Suffer together. Shared burden. Equal misery. Then, it gets worse. Someone throws a “Pick 2”. You’re unlucky? You have no defense? You pick 2. Another person stacks it: Pick 4… Pick 6… Pick 8…One person ends up picking 10, because they couldn’t block it. Reminds you of the poor and middle class? Many just hanging by a thread, being pulled into the poverty line by the APC-led government. What about the other person that all of a sudden just drops the card “Hold on. Suspension”. Progress paused. Dreams delayed. And the game goes on…for others! But some players? They have block cards. They don’t pick. They block inflation with dollars. They block hardship with soft landings and soft life. They have support groups, social capital, offshore accounts. Then there’s the real game changers: the jokers (WHOT CARD). Ah! They don’t just play. They dictate the shape: give me a triangle, circle, square. They change the rules! Today, they say free market. Tomorrow, price control. Import Fuel today, ban importation of locally available products tomorrow. Nigeria first today, IMF and World Bank controlled Nigeria tomorrow. Their hands are unseen, but their power is total. The rest of us? We wait for our turn (#Emilokan), maybe the burden won’t reach us. Even after “Last Card and Checkup”, we adjust again. Let’s play one more! Maybe next round, next deal, next election; we’ll have better cards. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be close to the center and finally throw our own “Pick 3” to the nearest neighbor. Sometimes I just wonder…Were we playing WHOT as kids, or were we being trained for Nigeria? A nation where life is a card game: and those with jokers always win, while piling more misery on the nearest Neighbour. #MDMusings #MetGala #MetGala2025 #JAMB

This Valentine’s Day, our Give Back Always #GBA initiative went beyond roses and chocolates as we shared warmth, companionship, and care at Masc Elderly Care Home, Abule Egba, Lagos. Our team spent the day engaging with the elderly, sharing heartfelt conversations, presenting thoughtful gifts, and spreading joy. The smiles, laughter, and gratitude we received in return were priceless and a true reminder that love knows no age. At Ikeja Electric, we believe in the power of giving back to our community, and today was a beautiful opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to compassion, care, and social impact. To our elders, you are cherished, valued, and deeply loved. #ValentinesWithAHeart #IECares #SpreadingLoveAndKindness #PCSR #BringingEnergyToLifeResponsibly

Marriage is not for everyone. After Jesus had given the Godly standard for marriage, the disciples said they didn't think anyone could get married and... Matthew 19:11 Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. And then He went on to say some people are meant to be celibate. And he gave different reasons. Then he ended by saying those who can accept His standard for marriage are the ones who should accept it. "... The one who can accept this should accept it.” (v12) And what was His standard. When two come together they become ONE. No divorce (except for infidelity and even then sef it doesn't have to be divorce). ONE flesh. One finances. One family. One everything. Inseparable. One man and one woman (biological). Not even the ministry should separate them. You can leave parents, siblings, property for the sake of the gospel but not your spouse. (Mark 10:29-31) They will die for each other if need be and live for each other. Jesus said if you don't want to live like this with your husband or wife, don't marry. It's better to be an Eunuch. Conversely, if you cannot find someone who is willing to be a spouse by this standard, then it is better to be celibate and single. You see it's better to be lonely. Loneliness can be managed. We can tell Godly married friends to ensure they don't get absorbed in their marriage and still make out quality time for you. Loneliness can be managed. But a bad marriage is hell on earth. Don't do it. Ref - Matt 19:1-12. Matt 19:29 (mentions wife but is not in many manuscripts. As it doesn't mention husband it confirms that it may be ignored since a woman can't marry herself).
