2025.12.08 Attorney @khosangrock YT update [Reflections and Requests from Attorney Ko Sangrok, Both Personally and as Legal Representative of Actor Kim Soohyun] This will be my final post before the investigation results come out. If you are very busy, you may start reading from section 4 onward. If you have the time, I would be grateful if you could start from section 1, where I share a bit of my personal story. 1. My First and Only Criminal Complaint, Closing an Unfortunate Chapter Since April, I have been commenting on this case, and on May 7, I was suddenly framed as someone who orchestrated an attack on a whistleblower and became a criminal victim. To restore my honor, I filed criminal complaints against Kim Seui and Attorney Bu Jiseok. This is the first and only criminal complaint I have ever filed in my life. Later, when another attorney commented that “Kim Seui may have simply believed the whistleblower’s claims and therefore may not be criminally liable,” I strongly disagreed from the standpoint of a victim and urged Gangnam Police to conduct a thorough investigation into Kim Seui. In response, that attorney, who previously represented Kim Seui in the “Tzuyang case,” filed criminal charges against me for defamation, insult, and violating the Anti-Stalking Act. As a result, I underwent my first-ever investigation as a suspect. For four and a half months, the psychological pressure was significant, but last week, I was finally cleared of all charges. I thank the investigators who thoroughly examined the case. Frankly, I still do not understand why that attorney went so far as to publicly attack me and initiate criminal proceedings. Though I cannot fully comprehend the emotions behind it, I trust he acted according to what he believed was right in his own life. Considering all the stress and the meaningless conflict that unfolded, I want to put an end to this connection here. Initially, I considered filing a counter-complaint after receiving my non-indictment decision, but I have decided against it. I sincerely hope that he, too, will find peace on his own path. I hope such unnecessary conflicts never waste anyone’s time again. 2. The False Accusation of Murder Solicitation, When Will We See Results? Separately from the above, the claim made at the May 7 press conference that I ordered the attack on the whistleblower was disproven almost immediately by the publicly available facts at the time. Yet to this day, none of those who made the claim have acknowledged the truth or expressed regret. This is largely because the police investigation into the truth of these allegations, even after 7 months, has still not reached a conclusion. As the criminal victim, I have repeatedly urged a swift decision, but it remains impossible to predict when results will come. Since my complaint is being investigated together with the Eun Hyunjang case under the same special task team, I hope the findings will come soon so that the injustices can finally be resolved. Still, I cannot deny that the prolonged delays are causing an unavoidable sense of powerlessness. 3. A Stalled Investigation, and How I Became Co-Counsel for Actor Kim Soohyun Not only my complaint but also the earlier complaint filed by actor Kim Soohyun has seen little progress for a long time. During this time, in September, I met with the LKB attorneys representing him, and after extensive discussions based on solidarity among victims, I joined the legal team as co-representative for Kim Soohyun. After reviewing the materials and records, I confirmed that in March, Kim Seui falsely accused Kim Soohyun of being “a minor sexual predator who groomed the deceased since childhood,” and fabricated and distributed evidence to support that claim. In particular, I verified that the person in the June 2016 KakaoTalk conversation, which played a decisive role in making the public perceive the actor as an offender, could not have been the actor. Despite this, Kim Seui relied on a false statement allegedly left by the deceased to claim that “the actor psychologically dominated and sexually exploited the deceased since she was a middle schooler incapable of consent,” and he falsified the KakaoTalk profile so it appeared to be the actor’s before presenting it at the press conference. Attorney Bu Jiseok, at that same event, asserted that the other party in that KakaoTalk conversation was the actor, bolstering the grooming allegation. That moment was the most decisive one that drove the public into believing the actor was an offender and pushed him to the brink. I simply cannot understand the actions of both Kim Seui and Attorney Bu Jiseok. Why did he go so far to assist Kim Seui? Whatever the reason, the result is undeniable: the actor suffered extreme pain as a consequence. 4. Last Week, Something Astonishing Was Discovered In the course of responding to the investigation, we uncovered new information last week that shocked and bewildered all of us—myself, the LKB attorneys, and the entire legal team. As is known, the deceased’s family filed a complaint on May 7 accusing actor Kim Soohyun of violating the Child Welfare Act. This case is being investigated separately by a special team at Seongdong Police Station. However, we confirmed that the family has not submitted a single piece of what they had claimed were their “key pieces of evidence” during the March Gaseyeon broadcast and the family-led press conference: • The June 2016 KakaoTalk (“When can I hold you and fall asleep?”) • The April 13, 2018 KakaoTalk (“If you’re not going to try, I won’t meet you anymore.”) • All the photos Kim Seui released as “evidence of a minor relationship” None of these have been submitted as evidence in their child abuse complaint. This means that although Attorney Bu Jiseok and Kim Seui jointly presented these at the March 27 press conference as the “most decisive proof,” the family withheld all of it from the police. They likely knew that submitting materials the victim already refuted could expose them to charges of false accusation. This created the absurd situation where we are the ones submitting those materials to the police and requesting, “Please investigate these.” This strongly suggests the family knew before May 7 that these materials could not serve as evidence of a minor relationship. Furthermore, although it was widely believed that both the family and Kim Seui filed complaints accusing the actor of false accusation, and though their complaints were bundled together, it turns out the family made clear to police that they do not wish to pursue the false accusation charge against the actor. To me, this indicates they already understood by March that Gaseyeon’s grooming allegations were false and therefore sought to avoid the risk of being charged with retaliatory false accusation. The family has remained silent on the “five key questions” I repeatedly raised. But their position is already evident from their consistent actions. Words can hide the truth, but behavior inevitably reveals it. I still hope the family will speak directly, but given everything so far, the likelihood seems low. Thus, I strongly urge the police to investigate this accurately and reflect it in the final results. 5. The Family’s Claims Are Evolving And the Actor Is Once Again in Deep Pain Until recently, I considered the possibility that the deceased’s family were simply misled by her private words and believed there was “a chance of a minor relationship.” But recent developments suggest otherwise. It is said that the deceased’s father informed LKB several times since late March through his attorney that “he is not leading this situation.” His absence from the recent statement seems to support this. Meanwhile, the deceased’s mother has been gathering false information after the incident and rearranging it into even more extreme allegations, including easily disproven claims such as the cat name-change story. More shocking, and what has once again pushed the actor into psychological collapse, is the following claim the mother made in a police statement, which we learned during the Seongdong Police’s request for additional responses: “After finishing My Love from the Star in 2014, the actor kissed the deceased, who was then a second-year middle school student, at Hangang Park, and she came home and told me, and I slapped her out of anger.” Anyone who remembers the situation at that time knows this makes no sense. After the drama ended, the actor was so besieged by foreign fans’ stalking and paparazzi that he could barely step outside. How could he have freely gone to Hangang Park to kiss anyone, much less a well-known middle school actress? He did not even personally know the deceased at that time. Despite publicly distancing herself from Gaseyeon, the mother is making new claims to the police that even Kim Seui never alleged. If this were true, why did she not report it to Gaseyeon back in March?
