California grows about 80% of the world's almonds. To produce a single almond kernel takes roughly one gallon of water. About four litres. For one nut. The kind of nut you eat fifteen of as a handful while waiting for the kettle to boil. A pound of almonds, that's around 1,900 gallons of water. The almonds in your carton of almond milk are roughly 2% of the contents by weight, which is a sentence that should be read twice. You are buying a 1-litre carton of filtered water, lightly flavoured with the second most water-intensive nut crop on earth, that has been grown in a state that is in the middle of its longest documented drought cycle on record, on land that used to be migratory bird habitat, irrigated from aquifers that have dropped so far in some regions that the ground is literally subsiding. Then the almonds get shipped six thousand miles to your local Sainsbury's, where they sit on a shelf next to dairy from a cow that lived seventy miles down the road and ate grass that fell from a sky that gave the water for free. You chose the almond. The marketing said it was kinder. Kinder to what is the question nobody asked.

The government have a duty to it’s citizens so that they can survive and live. With companies making record profits but the cost of living increased it’s time the governments step in and say this isn’t good enough and help people feed themselves by lowing costs

Which makes choosing the lean cut and wondering why nothing's improving one of the great metabolic ironies of modern dietary advice. The fat was never the problem. The fat is the nutrition. The fat is the satiety. The fat is the flavour. The fat is the reason your great-grandfather worked all day on two meals while you need three and a snack drawer. Stop cutting it off.

@CREWcrew Tax returns are private. Only the IRS should see them and if they have a problem, they can take action. It’s no one‘s business how much money anyone makes especially not the corrupt federal government and fucking Congress.

After Nixon’s “I am not a crook” tax scandal, the IRS mandated that the president’s tax returns be audited yearly. Every president since Nixon (except Trump) publicly released theirs. With the new DOJ settlement ending his audits, Trump is essentially announcing “I am a crook.”
