@mutchy73lfc I’m not a fan of 3 at the back. But we need to try and stop leaking goals

The big news is that Salah is dropped to the bench. Two changes from Saturday with Frimpong and Mac Allister recalled. Jones also makes way. Isak is among the subs. Looks like a back three with Frimpong and Kerkez operating as wing-backs.

Sherekhan Klopp 👨‍🍳🥘@SherekhanKlopp

Brother, no offence taken. I just think optics are irrelevant here. This is systemic risk. I’ll explain why. Let’s say they sack Slot. Alonso has already briefed that he’d only take the job if:- 1. The salary is top tier 2. It’s at the end of the season 3. He has first and final say on football ops (i.e. diluting Hughes) At that point, here’s the reality:- 1. The “head coach” model has failed. That’s not a coach — that’s a manager. 2. It’s failed twice in 11 years. They made the same compromise with Klopp, and over time he became the system — which is why Edwards / Ward / Graham all left. 3. So what is Hughes actually there for if the manager is the real decision-maker? But even before that:- 1. Are Edwards and Hughes even staying? 2.If they are, are they signing new deals? 3. If they aren’t, why is Alonso taking a job offered by people who may not be there? 4. And if they do leave — what is the structure? Who fills those gaps? Which brings it back to Slot: - 1. If he stays, does he get a new deal? 2. Probably only if Edwards and Hughes have a clear rebuild plan and also trust that he’s the man to execute it. 3. Probably only if they commit as well, so he knows who he’s working for. 4. And he’d need assurances he’s not getting pulled the moment fan sentiment turns. That’s my point. It’s a systemic mess. Either you stabilise the structure, fix the squad, and let the coach operate within it. Or you accept the model has failed — and you’re looking at a full reset. There isn’t really a clean middle ground. Optics are irrelevant at that point.

Sherekhan Klopp 👨‍🍳🥘@SherekhanKlopp·
His ‘little something’ was:- 1. Playing Trent as a half space RB after Klopp stopped doing it in 23/24, and running all the buildup through him. Klopp almost ran him as a free roaming RB, whilst Slot reinstated positional discipline but with the freedom to playmake from that side of the pitch. 2. Playing Robbo deeper than Klopp ever did. 3. Pulling an all timer in fitness and form from Konate, who was repeatedly injured before that. 4. Using Gravenberch as a 6, who got something like 1,000 minutes in 23/24. 5. Playing Gakpo LM out of possession and as an inside forward in possession. 6. Platforming Salah who had a generational season, even though he’d lost a good yard of pace. 7. Putting Diaz and Szobo as double 10s more or less to compensate for the lack of press OOP from Gakpo and Salah. 8. Winning the bloody League doing 1-7, even though the club didn’t sign anyone for him barring a geriatric from Italy who kept getting injured. Sounds like a fucking lot. And those principles were consistent all season. The reason we started to flag in March intensity wise is because he had roughly 14 odd players he could properly rely on all season, and had to overplay them in order to win the League. Arsenal have a full 22 man senior squad this year and they’re pulling players from international duty because the majority of them are goosed. It wasn’t Slot’s principles skewing away from Klopp that resulted in the squad not being ‘as good’ as they were from August till February. It was just good old fatigue. Nothing new at all.
Emlyn@LFC_EmlynTheRed

@GooalMouth I agree, I think he added a little something to a Klopp coached team. However as the pendulum has swung more away from Klopp’s principles and towards Slot’s (noticeable since March 25) there has been a steady decline (with some spikes in between).

@LenovoGuru @PeterSimmoYNWA Finding the right coach isn’t easy and changing the structure for an elite coach isn’t a guarantee. I do agree that Edwards and Hughes etc have been handed far more power than they deserve and we’re going back towards the Rodgers era

@ynwapritch @PeterSimmoYNWA Do you want a ‘most coach’ or an elite coach. Because the elite coaches have little interest just working underneath a DOF. Especially if the DOF has just spectacularly shat the bed for 2 years.

@PeterSimmoYNWA @LenovoGuru There’s been glimpses of the squads potential every now and again even from palace in the community shield.it has a lot of quality I don’t think it’s time for panic . Isak is too good not to score goals once fit

@ynwapritch @LenovoGuru It’s hard to have cool heads right now isn’t it? I suppose it’s our job to debate it but the people in power to solve it There are top players here. We aren’t crap despite what everyone is saying. It’s getting it out of them. Especially the ones who were brought in to kick us on

@PeterSimmoYNWA @LenovoGuru It’s one thing doing well in ligue 1 another for lfc. Is always easy to say afterwards. Slot unfortunately carries the can for having a revolution last summer rather than evolution which nobody complained about. I just hope we keep are heads and don’t try and rip it up again

@ynwapritch @LenovoGuru I don’t think too many were upset when he left for France though mate. I’m made up the lad is doing well and in hindsight he probably wouldn’t have done any worse. One criticism I’ve had of Slot is his mistrust of the fringe players. Endo for one, who never lets us down.

@PeterSimmoYNWA @LenovoGuru Morton should have been given endo minutes. All 3 started u21 final last summer. He should have been putting pressure on grav. Agree injuries haven’t helped an already thin squad

@ynwapritch @LenovoGuru I’m not sure about Morton myself Ian but i definitely agree about Elliot and Quansah. I do think Leoni would have featured more though and we’ve never been able to call upon him or Isak up top really.

@PeterSimmoYNWA @LenovoGuru Biggest difference was competition for places. Quansah started the first game ahead of konate so he knew he had a battle to stay first choice same with Gakpo/diaz both pushed each otherSelling Quansah Elliot and Morton who may not be starters meant we didn’t have a healthy fight

@LenovoGuru Gravenberch was the biggest difference. He was only a bit part under Klopp but was magnificent last season Some won’t like to hear it but Gakpo was good in 2024/25 too. Played in a position he prefers. He’s struggled there this season bizarrely Spot on about Konate staying fit

@NickLFC82 Agree with Henderson gettinstick anbeing undervalued as much as loved him he hung jurgen out to dry after he got him a 3yrdeal in his 30sLefton the eve of the new season and we may not have fallen apart in the last few weeks if he had stayed. He didn’t want to fight for a place

When I think of all the criticism Henderson used to get for yrs off certain parts of the fanbase. Yet he’s better than all of r midfield now. The moanin about the workman like standard of him, Milner, Fab, Gini etc. They were miles better than what we r watchin week in/out now

It’s testament to how bad this season has been with feelings like this sadly. Fowler 18, Owen 17, Gerrard 18 I’ve seen them all & they were absolutely electric. You knew straight away they were pure class & had to play. Rio is sound & shud play more but he’s not in there league
LB@LBLFC_

As soon as Ngumoha went off, they started growing in confidence. Every time that kid touched the ball they looked terrified.. Porro didn’t know what day it was. It says everything when a 17 year old kid is the only one who can get you up off your seat. Superstar him.

VAR correct to rule out third MCFC goal. You can’t just ignore the rules because it ‘feels right’. If referee waves play on for first foul he would then have to penalise second one. Goal suited BOTH teams cos didn’t affect outcome and LFC lose player. But that’s irrelevant.

Football belongs to players and fans, not to soulless, joyless pedants with no feel for the game. Senseless decision, an affront to football. Ruling out that third goal is one of the most ridiculous moments of the season, totally against the spirit of the game. The law’s an ass, if it’s a foul, play advantage, and/or how can it be DOGSO if there’s a goal scored? Can’t blame the ref tbh, blame the law and the law-makers and the fact that refs denied the opportunity to apply common sense, living in fear of those who mark their homework. #LIVMCI
