#lfc season ticket holder . sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand. #JFT97 #YNWA

Brother, no offence taken. I just think optics are irrelevant here. This is systemic risk. I’ll explain why. Let’s say they sack Slot. Alonso has already briefed that he’d only take the job if:- 1. The salary is top tier 2. It’s at the end of the season 3. He has first and final say on football ops (i.e. diluting Hughes) At that point, here’s the reality:- 1. The “head coach” model has failed. That’s not a coach — that’s a manager. 2. It’s failed twice in 11 years. They made the same compromise with Klopp, and over time he became the system — which is why Edwards / Ward / Graham all left. 3. So what is Hughes actually there for if the manager is the real decision-maker? But even before that:- 1. Are Edwards and Hughes even staying? 2.If they are, are they signing new deals? 3. If they aren’t, why is Alonso taking a job offered by people who may not be there? 4. And if they do leave — what is the structure? Who fills those gaps? Which brings it back to Slot: - 1. If he stays, does he get a new deal? 2. Probably only if Edwards and Hughes have a clear rebuild plan and also trust that he’s the man to execute it. 3. Probably only if they commit as well, so he knows who he’s working for. 4. And he’d need assurances he’s not getting pulled the moment fan sentiment turns. That’s my point. It’s a systemic mess. Either you stabilise the structure, fix the squad, and let the coach operate within it. Or you accept the model has failed — and you’re looking at a full reset. There isn’t really a clean middle ground. Optics are irrelevant at that point.

@GooalMouth I agree, I think he added a little something to a Klopp coached team. However as the pendulum has swung more away from Klopp’s principles and towards Slot’s (noticeable since March 25) there has been a steady decline (with some spikes in between).

As soon as Ngumoha went off, they started growing in confidence. Every time that kid touched the ball they looked terrified.. Porro didn’t know what day it was. It says everything when a 17 year old kid is the only one who can get you up off your seat. Superstar him.
