🇺🇸🇮🇷🇵🇰 BREAKING: Iran has submitted its response to the U.S. 45-day ceasefire proposal relayed through Pakistan – IRNA Iran rejects a temporary ceasefire and demands the following: – A permanent end to the war on all theatres in the Middle East, including Lebanon and Gaza, with guarantees. – Implementation of a new transit protocol that recognizes Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz and allows Iran to collect tolls. – The lifting of economic sanctions on Iran. – Acknowledging Iran’s right to peacefully enrich uranium as per its inherent right under the NPT and UN charter. – The paying of reparations for economic damages suffered during the war.

The White House deleted this embarrassing video. So whatever you do- * DON'T REPOST IT. * Donald wouldn't like it if you hit "repost." Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.

I am the VP of Workforce Economics at Oracle. We are worth $420 billion. On Tuesday, we sent 30,000 employees a termination email at 6 AM. Not 9. Not business hours. Six in the morning. They woke up to the word "eliminated." The email came from "Oracle Leadership." Not a manager. Not a name. Oracle Leadership. It said: "We are grateful for your dedication, hard work, and the impact you have made." By the time they read the word "grateful," their access to email, files, and Slack had already been revoked. The gratitude was the last Oracle communication they received. We did not eliminate the roles. We eliminated the salaries. In the same fiscal year, we filed 3,126 H-1B petitions to hire foreign workers. 436 this year alone. The roles are identical. The pay is not. An H-1B software engineer earns $87,000. The domestic median for the same work is $106,000. Eighty-three percent of H-1B workers are classified at entry-level wages for senior positions. The industry calls this a skills gap. It is a pay cut that requires a passport. The visa is tied to the employer. If the worker leaves, they lose their legal right to remain in the country. If they negotiate, they risk the same. If they organize, the sponsor declines to renew. That is retention. Our revenue this quarter is $17.2 billion. Up 22%. Net income up 95%. We have $553 billion in committed future contracts. Up 325%. These are not the numbers of a company that needs to lay anyone off. We took a $2.1 billion restructuring charge. That is the cost of the gratitude. It frees up $8 to $10 billion in annual cash flow. That cash services $156 billion in AI data centers we are building. Starting 2028, OpenAI pays us $82 million per day. Larry Ellison is worth $189 billion. He pledged $51 billion in Oracle shares as collateral for the Stargate AI venture. Announced at the White House. The stock rose 4% on Tuesday. The day of the 6 AM emails. Wall Street did not see 30,000 people. They saw the margin. Amazon laid off 30,000 since October. Filed thousands of H-1B petitions in the same window. This is not one company. This is the operating model. Fire the salary. Keep the role. Fill it with someone whose legal right to remain in the country depends on your continued sponsorship. Pay them less. They will not complain. They cannot. One employee's father worked at Oracle for 20 years. No phone call. No meeting. An email at 6 AM and a locked laptop. The role is still open. The people we fired are free. The people we hired are not.

Claiming that "this waterway is a global public good" requires facing two questions: First, where was the EU when this "global public good" was available to everyone except Iran—a coastal country on the Strait of Hormuz? For years, Iran’s oil and trade were disrupted by the Americans through their unilateral and illegal maximum sanctions. Yet, Iran exercised self-restraint for decades; the EU noticed this but did not bother to reiterate that the Strait of Hormuz is a "global public good." Second, the flow is constrained by the aggression of the American and Israeli regimes, why then tout the EU’s Aspides naval mission instead of stopping the aggression itself?
Kaja Kallas@kajakallas

Thank you @YvetteCooperMP for convening a call of over 40 countries on the Strait of Hormuz. This waterway is a global public good. Iran cannot be allowed to charge countries a bounty to let ships pass. International law doesn’t recognise pay-to-pass schemes. Today, we looked at diplomatic, economic, and security measures to restore safe passage, alongside working with the shipping industry. The EU’s Aspides naval mission has already assisted 1,700 ships in the Red Sea and must be scaled up. We cannot afford to lose another critical trade route. We support work by the UN on humanitarian corridors in the Strait to get food and fertilisers out. The EU has tools to track and facilitate transit that could help with that.

Alexander Stubb, president of Finnland, calls on Iran to stop firing at its neighbors and open the strait of Hormuz, but conveniently leaves out that it is Iran that is being attacked by his NATO Ally and by Israel, using the territories and airspaces of those neighbours to do so. Oh and the straits WERE OPEN before the unlawful attack. So what the hell?! European leaders are really insane hypocrites.
Alexander Stubb@alexstubb

I had a call with President of Iran, @drpezeshkian. We discussed the situation in Iran and the Middle East. A ceasefire and a diplomatic solution are urgently needed. I emphasized the need to end the strikes on neighbouring countries and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait Hormuz. Despite the disagreements, it is important to maintain dialogue.

Did you even mention who is truly responsible for the current situation? Why do you keep ignoring the crimes of the U.S. and Israeli regime while the whole world is raising its voice? Look, European taxpayers are paying the price for these actions. Your duty is to put Europe’s interests first, not Israel’s.
Ursula von der Leyen@vonderleyen

Good call yesterday with @Keir_Starmer. We discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s actions are putting global economic stability at risk. We will work with our partners to ensure freedom of navigation can resume as soon as possible. We also discussed the upcoming EU-UK Summit. A key moment to deliver on last year’s commitments and further strengthen our partnership.
