@yoncebright
and you still CANT beat my ass

Niall doesn't like it, you say. Sure, I reply, that's why he looked so pleased here #HalfMan

disclaimer i don't think lestat strictly takes any one role and i don't think he can strictly be a woman or mother as he is Lestat ultimately. however,

people saying that claudia does not have a fate that she shares with lestat and is trying to avoid but in THIS case, the fate is in regards to their shared approach to vampirism and how louis views them as lesser for it. as much as claudia believed louis perceived her as equal

lestat as (m)other, a very short almost offensively casual essay. (see disclaimer in the replies)

this dud 😭😭😭

i’m begging you to rewatch s1 instead of basing your analysis on your personal feelings about your mothers ig.if you can’t see what s1 is putting down in termas of family dynamics idk what to tell you,just rewatch the show

@yoncebright i agree that he is absolutely reaping what he sowed! that quote, however, speaks primarily about black families, and so the enmeshment louclaudia have is in fact applicable, and it DOES motivate their expulsion of lestat from the unit.

@yoncebright you’re misunderstanding the quote’s context. Mother is excluded from the “special”incestuous enmeshment BY father and daughter. that is the context i was trying to offer, which can be read to reflect how lestat is shut out of louclaudia’s bond and then conspired against.

@yoncebright the quote refers to the incest continuum in heterosexual families, which is replicated in iwtv’s unholy family. lestat is excluded through the same mechanism, and both claudia and lestat suffer at louis’ hand. op didn’t say lestat was a victim of misogyny, rather drew a parallel.
