@AndrewBorders10@ChiSoxFanMike@whitesox And you do understand how little $1.2 million is even to someone like Jerry right? I’ll be interesting to see how the final spots play out this week.
@you_GROSS@ChiSoxFanMike You do understand were talking about the @whitesox right @you_GROSS ?? 1.2 million isn't something Jerry's just throwing around. Agree with @ChiSoxFanMike on this one. The stove may be luke warm but my guess its the heat is tuned on.
I think the Reese McGuire signing means one of these three things:
1. They are going to trade Korey Lee
2. They are going to trade Edgar Quero
3. Kyle Teel’s injury is worse than they thought
Otherwise, I have no idea what the thought process is here.
@ChiSoxFanMike To say Slater mashed lefties is a bit of a stretch IMO. Who knows how much McGuire will play. They may just want to carry 3 C’s regardless. We’ll have to wait and see how the roster plays out before we jump to conclusions.
@you_GROSS Slater has a legit role on this team last year as an outfielder who mashed lefties. It’s not a ton of money in MLB terms, but I don’t think McGuire will even play all that much
@ChiSoxFanMike $1.2 million is nothing to a major sports team. We payed Austin Slater $1.75 million to be a platoon OF against lefties. McGuire is nothing more than a depth piece.
@you_GROSS I wouldn’t say it’s a probably per se, but paying McGuire $1.2 million for what will likely be a couple weeks on the roster doesn’t seem like something they would do. It feels like something bigger is brewing here
An Edgar Quero trade is pretty much the only rationale I can come up with for signing Reese McGuire. I understand that’s unlikely but it’s the only way I’d get it.
I remember the days when elite TE’s used to be RD1/2 picks.
The position’s deeper now – but you don’t see elite WR’s dropping just because “WR is deep.”
Give me LaPorta, Kelce, McBride, Andrews, (& even Kincaid) every time in RD4-6.
All have the potential to post 16+ PPG.
Mark Buehrle is the only pitcher to toss three complete games while facing the minimum 27 batters (since at least 1901)
