Disappointing for Liverpool and some familiar failings. They’ve lost their authority this season. Lost their cohesion. Lost much of their defensive resilience. Arguably, lost their way. More Liverpool players need to raise their game as Dominik Szoboszlai does week in, week out. And Arne Slot needs to believe in Rio Ngumoha more; final ball needs a bit of work but he’s a threat. Slot is a good manager, and has credit in the bank etc, but he has to show/prove he can guide Liverpool out of this lengthy period of stagnation #MUNLIV

Explain this to me like I’m a one-year-old: Why do Manchester City always seem to have one or two games in hand when the season’s nearly done and it’s the same story every year?

@Corballyred He had his leg broken after a heavy challenge. Seems harsh to judge him on how many games he’s missed after that.

I'd sell Isak this summer for £80m and reinvest in a reliable, fit player. We can't rely on his fitness next season. The idea of him replacing Salah goals is ridiculous — Salah missed ~16 games in 9 years; Isak has already missed double that this season alone. It'd take real courage for Hughes and Edwards to admit the mistake and cash in, so it's unlikely to happen. Would you agree???

Rumours suggest Angela Rayner could take over from Rachel Reeves as Chancellor. Would that improve anything? I've been critical of Rachel Reeves impact on the economy, but I have real concerns that Rayner could take things even further in the wrong direction.

And you shouldn’t be in business if you can’t pay your staff a proper living wage
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Mail doesn't think seem to think workers, of all ages, are worth £15 an hour. That's fair pay for a fair day's work, with money workers will put back into the economy. We are the party for workers. Vote Green on 7th May.

@chairmanb @KateFantom I’m paying 21.45p per kWh with Octopus, but I don’t have a smart meter and because of that I don’t qualify for any of their reduced rate tariffs. I may need to re-consider my options. I hadn’t realised they offered such low rates.

Right now I’m charging my EV from the grid. It averages 4 miles/kWh. With current emissions it will emit 20g/CO2 per mile or 12g/CO2 per km. It costs 5p/kWh. For a full charge of 220 miles it will cost approximately £2.85. The car I’m charging is a 2021 MG5 which has covered 170,000. It’s well worth getting one if you can.

@Artemisfornow I’ve had one for years now. I bought it to help reduce my extortionate electricity bills. It uses 1/3 of the energy that a traditional dryer does. Made perfect sense to me

State control under Mad Ed means normal tumble driers will be banned! You now have to spend more money on something that takes longer, doesn’t work efficiently in cold rooms and erm .., costs more. It’s the heat pump tumble drier 🤡

The Muslim community in the UK is outraged at the way police detained the 45-year-old Muslim immigrant who stabbed two Jewish people in London this morning. According to them, officers used excessive force in a ‘dehumanizing’ and ‘Islamophobic’ manner.

@tomhfh South Derbyshire, where I live has built more new homes than any other area of England, with properties built in the past 10 years making up 17% of overall housing stock. This is far in excess of the English average of 6.0%. We now get heavy traffic and overflowing drains

@you_bf_smith Here's why we need to build more homes even with a declining population: x.com/tomhfh/status/…
Tom Harwood@tomhfh

@ecroccauns Internal migration matters. People should be able to move from unproductive low income areas to productive high income areas. The number of people sharing homes won’t be static, and deaths and births will not all be in the same locations.
