Got this great reminder from a former student from the Class of 2019. He wants to remind me to not just focus on the kids who are eager to participate but focus on those that don’t. You can see the want in peoples eyes to belong to be brought along for the ride.

I met a school counselor who was responsible for 300 students. One person overseeing 300 students. She said that it is impossible to meet, get to know, and help every student. It is so unfair to her and the students.

Flying to Indiana tomorrow morning to help GYTO behind the scenes as they begin their two year partnership with Indiana schools!!! Going to be an incredible time seeing how much care and time goes into these worthwhile programs!

I was more worried about my shoes than I was learning. A lot of kids worried about the stigma and ridicule. I didn’t have decent shoes or clean socks. My middle school years would’ve been different if my teachers were encouraged to build relationships.

Social Emotional Wellness is vital for the well-being of our young people. It’s normal to not talk about hardships. It’s acceptable to hide your faults or your emotions. It’s encouraged that our young people suck it up. None of this is okay & we have seen the lasting impact.

Do not expect anyone other than yourself to understand any choice you make. But do except them to have their own perspective.

Dear Middle School and High School Teachers, If you ever bump into a student outside of school, just tell them that you were looking for them because they still owe you an assignment. Their expression of shock and confusion will be the funniest thing you ever see.
