Instituto members on strike today delivered a letter to CEO Darrel Hackett at BMO Bank, Instituto del Progreso Latino’s close partner and a bank deeply connected to the schools’ finances, to settle this contract on behalf of the administration.

Instituto received tens of millions in federal, city, state and local school district tax dollars to procure a building for the charter school they run.

We requested to speak with the CEO, Darrel Hackett. He was not available. We waited for 35 minutes and no one came down. An employee spoke to us briefly, gave us a speech about how diverse BMO is, then shook our hands and left. We were able to leave the letters with security.
