let’s say a gen z person bought two $28 burritos a month. that’s $56 a month and $672 a year, which isn’t even enough to pay a month’s worth of rent at most places nowadays, let alone the cost of a home. cancelling subscriptions, not eating takeout, etc. does not change that much

@emmamurabito $5k compounding annually at 5% after 5 years is $36k. Which can easily be leveraged into a 300k mortgage over 300 years at $1.5k a month. Less than the average rent. So yes, if you just stopped doordashing every day and saved up 5k a year for 6 years could buy a home.

Adam Lanza had no history of violent behavior or criminal activity before the shooting, so there was no release without bail. Decarlos Brown Jr. has a documented criminal and mental health history and was released back into society repeatedly. He was released without bail this past January; His documented criminal history, spanning from 2011, includes charges and convictions for felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault, shoplifting, communicating threats, and misuse of the 911 system. Hopefully the change will be getting these uneducated (in law) liberal judges out of their positions. Teresa Stokes is a magistrate judge in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, who released Decarlos Brown Jr. in January 2025 on a written promise to appear in court after his arrest for misuse of the 911 system. According to reports, Stokes is not a licensed attorney nor a member of the North Carolina State Bar. In North Carolina, magistrates are not required to have a law degree or be licensed attorneys. This is asinine and needs to change. It should be mandatory for a judge to have a law degree.
