Workers too often pay the price for the choices made by management. In this case that price is the livelihoods of thousands of people.

15% is a significant number of workers and Xero now joins the club of Sharesies, Microsoft, and many other tech companies putting profit before the people who are working to grow the company.

The Aotearoa Tech Union sends its heart out to everyone at Xero affected by the recently announced layoffs. We hope that during this time Xero upholds respect and fairness for every single worker being affected by these changes, and remembers who it was that built their products.

Fair Pay Agreements will set minimum rates, terms and conditions for an industry; stop bad employers from paying people less then they’re worth; protect good employers from being undercut by bad employers; provide a fairer playing field; and literally improve lives.
