It’s June 13th and not a single temperature is above 16 degrees across Canada. We did it team, our carbon taxes have paid off! 🙄

I guess if people are interested I can perhaps give more insight on how your food is grown in Western Canada. I often forget it’s a very niche area because only ~1.3% of the population is directly involved in Farming operations. Meanwhile 50 years ago it was 4.63% of the population farmed and 100 years ago it was almost 33% of the population farmed. We are drastically getting further and further away from our food supply. Here is a typical seeding/planting setup: Power- the John Deere tractor (no not combine) creates all the power used to pull and function all the machinery during seeding. Plow- the red drill has shanks, like mini plows, that plant the seed into the ground. Pressure- the air tank I’m standing on in the picture is what holds the seed and fertilizer while it is being distributed to the drill. Pump- sometimes pulled behind the air tank, will be a liquid product such as a fertilizer or a treatment product. What we have here is really a mobile factory used to sow seed as efficiently as possible. I can break these functions down in greater detail if there is interest.
