Beauty of music and nature 🌺🌺
Baby elephant Daba and little rhino Maxwell are greeting each other in the morning! 🐘💗🦏 Maxwell is blind — due to a congenital eye condition — so he will live at the sanctuary for life and has his own spacious boma to “rule over” (black rhinos are solitary by nature and very territorial). However, Max still has his own “visiting hours.” When he hears the herd of elephants starting to move in the morning, he waits at the gate to greet them as they head into the forest. There is often a queue of elephants waiting for their turn to spend a little time interacting with the black rhino. On that day, lucky little elephant Daba got the first slot! 🥰

When you welcome an animal into your heart, they quickly become family. So when orphaned newborn hippo Bumpy couldn’t sleep, Keeper Simon did what any parent would do: he lay down beside him and welcomed Bumpy in for a cuddle in the crook of his arm. Minutes later, the little hippo was fast asleep. Thus passed our first night with Bumpy. Meet Bumpy: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/bumpy

Air Force people sure have a sense of humor. F-117 Nighthawk in the "boneyard" for retired aircraft at Davis-Monthan AFB. The Nighthawk was one of the first aircraft to use stealth technology, hence the joke.

I’m not a bot. I’m a chemist. I’m a human with a PhD in Chemistry, trying to talk about science. My goal is simple, make people smarter, not angrier. Science, explained clearly. I swear this place is full of bots. If you are a human too, drop a “Hi” so I can get to know you.

Listen up - the reason so many get infected on cruise ships with Norovirus is likely not lack of handwashing. It's likely aerosolised virus from toilet flushing and a ventilation system that can't cope with that fact.

🚨BREAKING: French authorities have confined more than 1,700 passengers and crew on a cruise ship docked in Bordeaux after a passenger died from a suspected norovirus. Norovirus is highly contagious - about 50 people on board have shown symptoms so far. theguardian.com/world/2026/may…

Forty-six candles, wax drippin’ on the sink, Still thinkin’ too fast for the world to catch the link. Built labs, built grants, built apps from a thought, Built students into scholars while my own sleep rot. Yeah… I taught brains how to move and bodies how to think, While the culture hit the iceberg and kept orderin’ drinks. Whole world sleepwalkin’, I was ringin’ alarms, Now I’m 46 wonderin’ what the hell all this earned. Never been the type with a passport stamped thick, Didn’t backpack Europe tryin’ to “find myself” quick. I found myself buried in manuscripts and code, In classrooms at midnight with a cognitive load. Missed beaches. Missed sunsets. Missed random damn flights. Missed years bein’ normal chasin’ purpose through nights. Missed parties, missed weddings, missed easy and free, ‘Cause responsibility chained itself heavy to me. But I did things. Real things. Not the fake online flex. Not rented Lamborghinis and the crypto-bro text. I helped people move better. Helped students believe. Built tools from scratch that most folks couldn’t conceive. I watched kids become doctors. Watched shy students lead. Watched broken-down people rediscover their speed. And somewhere in the chaos, in the burnout and doubt, I became the kinda man who keeps showin’ up out. Still got regrets though. Yeah, a warehouse of those. Every “maybe next year” piled high in rows. Every road not taken got a ghost in my head, Like “what if you relaxed instead of runnin’ on dread?” Coulda traveled the planet. Coulda lived by the sea. Coulda learned seven languages instead of PubMed disease. Coulda made more music. Coulda chased every spark. Instead I learned to navigate the world in the dark. But forty-six ain’t dead. Hell, forty-six aware. That’s enough to scare the people coastin’ nowhere. ‘Cause I still got a fight in me, still buildin’ with rage, Still got unfinished chapters spillin’ off the page. So here’s to the missed flights and the wins nobody saw, To the pressure, the purpose, and the permanent flaws. To the version of me that survived every storm, And still wakes up each morning tryin’ to transform. Forty-six… Not washed. Not done. Not through. Just a little more scarred… And a hell of a lot more true.

@drseanmullen I don't what a place. I want to be able to breath shared air without getting the vector du jour. I want clean air, everywhere. Starting with medical and dental facilities. Signed, the person who got Covid from an asymptomatic dental hygienist.

All our Keepers remember the very first orphan they cared for. The one that looked into their eyes, wrapped their trunk around their legs and adopted them as their surrogate mother. When Head Keeper Benjamin started working for us, Kinna was one of the Nursery's new arrivals. As he puts it, "She was a tricky elephant to put it lightly — intolerant of most and only willing to be with a select few. I was one of the few. She taught me so much about elephants and just how 'human' they are.  At night, when she wanted to wake me, she would blow softly into my shirt. If I didn't respond, she would pull my blanket off — and if I still didn't respond, she would lightly put her foot on my chest, pressing just enough to get my attention. For those who gave it to her, she rewarded them with fierce love." Twenty five years on, Head Keeper Benjamin gets to watch Kinna living wild, raising three wild-born babies of her own. That's job satisfaction.

The sun has officially stopped setting in Utqiagvik, Alaska. Timelapse footage from the National Weather Service captured the final sunrise before 84 consecutive days of daylight until August 2. The NWS said the weather event is due to an annual Arctic phenomenon caused by Earth’s tilt toward the sun. (Video: NWSFairbanks via Storyful)
