@JamesDYodice The question is how did they get Sandia in ?? That’s the million dollar question. They beat no one. NMAA do better.

What happened was, Sandia, Cibola and AHA all finished tied. AHA had the edge on Cibola. Cibola had the edge on Sandia. Sandia had the edge on AHA. So NMAA had to break down how they rated in each of the 6 criteria points. That got Sandia into the field. Then AHA/Cibola tiebreak.

More on 5A baseball bracket: All 4 Las Cruces schools made it. No Volcano Vista for what I believe is the first time ever. (Not 100 on that one). Atrisco gets in as a 16 seed. Cibola, my beloved alma mater, beat four of the top seven seeds, but that wasn't enough. Coogs out.

@JamesDYodice The NMAA clearly has in their bylaws that it’s a 3 days total which makes no sense. La Cueva got beat but I guess rules as they are laid out are rules. It’s just unfortunate for that young man.

@JamesDYodice He threw 17 on Thursday and 117 today. I was under the impression that they went by the MLb pitch smart rules but apparently they don’t. Pitch smart states that no pitcher can throw 3 consecutive days which the NMAA clearly states they can. But the NMAA is totally contradictory

I am trying to confirm the actual numbers, but Sandia SP Adriel Figueroa-Brito surpassed 120 pitches in a 3-day period and that’s against the rules. I believe he threw 117 today and APS tells me he threw 13 on Thursday.

@JamesDYodice Their reasoning is questionable. He only threw 17 on Thursday which requires no days rest and according to pitch smart which the NFHS and NMAA say they go by the max pitches in any 1 outing is 120 which he did not exceed. But requires 4 days of rest after.
